I just picked up an Emergency Mission on the TZ forum, and noticed that the black dial model has had a couple different dial variations.

One of them looks like a flat black with white subs, and white painted numbers. The other is textured black dial with polished numbers and silver framed subs. I suppose the latter is the newer model. Does anyone know when the switch happened?

What is the lume like on the first version? Are all the numbers lumed or just the 12, 3, 6, 9?

What was the time frame for the Mission model? I understand it is now discontinued.

Mark the watch in the first picture has the lume on the 3,6 ( whats left of it),9,12. The other numbers are not lumed but have a small tick of lume on the mark just at the periphery of the number. There is also lume of course on the pearl and the hour and minute hands but the smaller subdial hands also contain a miniscule amount as well. I'm not sure what year the model changed. The watch in the second pic (courtesy of Driver8 I believe) was in the 2007 and 2008 Chronolog and as such is the later version but I don't know exactly what year it was changed. The entire production run was from 2003-2008.

Here's an exceedingly crappy iphone photo of the earlier version.

You can also tell the difference quickly as the "original" EM has grooved pusher housing whereas the latter models don't.

Best wishes,

Verner

I bought the EM on impulse (big surprise there  ) and didn't realize there were different black versions. It looks like I was lucky that i got the model I prefer. I like the earlier version with the more tool-like flat black dial, white numbers, more lume, and I like the grooved pusher housings.

Looking forward to this one.

Thanks again guys.

Just happen to have taken a lume pic of the "newer" EM yesterday (but also exceedingly crappy iPhone pic -- sorry!):
