It Can Be Ordered At Any Barnes & Noble Book Store - Cost $49.95 + Tax - US, More Economical If You Have Coupon ( I Did - lol)

Best Regards,

Enezdez

It's the best available for pre bankruptcy. It's almost 25 years old now (the updates are only for revised pricing), and has a lot of gaps and a few errors, but there's nothing else better in terms of published books. Obviously original catalogues, advertising, etc is as good as it gets.

It also has a frankenwatch in it, or at least a watch that has been serviced / restored inconsistently with how it should look.

You actually aren't the first person to mention that in the last couple of weeks.

I have no idea if Benno is still around, but the book is 20 odd years old now. I wouldn't presume to do it myself, but if I could facilitate a group of experts - Alan Trott, Don Indiano, Jean-Michel at Navitimer.net, etc then there might be something there.

Only problem is that I am not sure that it would be a smart financial undertaking.

you say that but whats the downside other than time? there are some truely talented photographers on the forum for pics, i bet if you asked the right people and told them your intention you could probably get access to BSA for information or validation.

you could probably sell a few hundred copies on the forum

im not saying it would be something 5 or 6 people could make money doing but it would be one hell of an interesting task.

if you ever do decide to try it id be happy to talk to Franz in BUK for one thing.

Thanks Alex.

The cost factor would be the publication side - that can get expensive. It might be worth some exploratory research to try and identify the right people to include on the project.

i know a book editor here in the UK who might be able to help on that side.

if its good enough you could always see if BSA would fund that side?

You could use Lulu or similar.

I'd love to see it happen.

I may have a little more time on my hands in the New Year and I'm certainly considering it. Would definitely want to get some other people on my side and I need to be clear in my own mind on the value proposition.

Breitling came out with 'The Book' this year and so it would need to be something distinctly differetn from that, especially to get Breitling SA support. I wonder whether an overhaul of Benno's book with some additional content might be the way to go. I'd have to go through Schiffer to find out if Benno is even still alive, and they may or may not be helpful, but I am considering it.

Roff I'm with you too, being not an expert though but ready to contribute in the small parts of the topic that I'm more at home in and have a few documents too (catalogs first half of the 1990-s and Bennos book first edition) and can send scans about two not too common pieces: blue Aviastar and the beautiful off-white Grand Premier (1999) which is a recent capture of mine :)
Good health for the job, best regards from beautiful Budapest:

Robert

Trouble with writing a documentary type book is you get the authors opinion on what's right or wrong. There will be a few points always open for debate. We've got that with Richter already. Now if it was laid out more like a reference guide, maybe supported by or sponsored by Breitlingsource, it would have less of a tendency to involve the authors opinions. Like Jack Webb would say on Dragnet, "just the facts." Lulu works great for limited publication and production can be increased based upon demand.
