Well, after nearly two months my CA has finally returned. Goldsmiths called me this afternoon and I went after work to pick it up. The cheeky buggers tried to say the costof the service was £660! (Overhaul and new Crystal) I queried it and got it down to £425 - supposedly a mistake on their part...

I treated myself to a Pro II Ti and think it looks really well. I've gotta say, the watch looks amazingly different compared to the state it was in! BUK have done a sterling job.

Behold!

Wow, that looks like a new watch! Fantastic stuff!

I have to say, BUK have always been absolutely superb to deal with in my experience as well, although I've never had a watch in particularly bad condition so I've never had the full benefit of their makeovers! Great job they have done there!

It does look new, doesn't it! Incredible job - I'm amazed at how they managed to get the big dinks out. Kudos to BUK. I was a bit concerned after hearing about Stefans CA, but I couldn't be happier. Hopefully it'll keep decent time :)

Haha! Just asked the girlfriend what she thought of the watch in the first picture(she knows I'm looking for a new one), answer - 'that looks bloody awfull why would you want to buy that'!

Then I quickly scrolled down to the 2nd and 3rd pics, her reply - 'that watch is MUCH nicer'!

Brilliant! :D

Great job though, should give me a bit more confidence to not worry about battering mine!

Cheers

I know Breitling service isn't cheap - but what they can do is truly spectacular - it looks wonderful.

Steve,

Mine arrived back this morning and is now the same as yours after the issue with the first crystal. BUK sorted the problem without and fuss and performed a speedy exchange of the damaged 'new' crystal! It is now in as new condition.

Same as you with the bracelet too, I had a Seawolf Pro II spare which went straight on it this morning!

Stef

Ah glad it's sorted Stefan - they seemed to have resolved it quite quick then? A sign of a good company if they can rectify any issues they have caused with out any quibbles! It looks cracking on the Pro 2 as well, doesn't it? I didn't realise how much better it would look! A worthy purchase.

Steve, I seriously can't beleive the difference, I was dreading it a bit really, thinking I'd made a mistake. Thankfully I was wrong and it's worked out amazingly well!

Ta ta,

Steve

Wow  Looks absolutely hanging in the first pic, but what a difference now.

So how did you know the service cost was too much? did you get a quote before?

Out of interest is there a break down of the service and overhaul? Be interested to see what makes up the final bill, and price of the crystal etc.

Well, I had looked it up before I purchased the watch to make sure it was viable. Though I still wasn't 100% sure. The Overhaul is £270~ and a new Sapphire Crystal is £153 - I had been emailing a lady @ BUK to check up on it and to ask if they thought anything else needed replacing etc, so I knew well before the due date what the costs should be. I'd like to think it was just a clerical error on Goldsmiths part, but like you, how many people actually know the costs and would have just paid the £660? I think they were trying to be a bit sneeky if I'm honest.

* Just to add to that, you do have the option to get a quote prior to work being carried out, even so; they could potentially tell you anything. I think next time I'll do what Stefan did and go straight to Breitling. Although I did get a few goodies from BUK for Goldsmiths hash-up! :)

£153 doesn't sound too bad for a replacement crystal considering how thick that particular one is, and the the fact its domed.

No doubt, a lot of people would have paid the Goldsmiths price without hesitation, but thats the advantage of forums like this. It raises awareness of real world prices etc.

All in all not a bad deal from BUK :)
