The Breitling Watch Source Forums

I’ve just come across this brand which some of you may have heard about; I did a forum search and there is a mention here and there. A British brand, hand made in Switzerland with only limited numbers manufactured per model. Each watch is a certified chronometer. Of special mention is they made from especially hardened steel, taking the up to 2000 vickers in hardness. Movements are described as modified Valjoux 7750, at least in the classic series.

They appear to compete with Breitling and Omega with regards to price - anyone own one of know anything about them? I don’t actually mind the look of them but would have to justify the price.

No personal experience but they have been featured in International Watch a few times in the last year or so.

I like the look, but a lot of money for a generic movement.

Agreed on both counts.

Another brand that I really like the look of but struggle with the price for a generic movement is Linde Werdelin. They make some superb looking pieces but with a minimum price of around 4000 EURO (going upwards of 20K EURO) I'd struggle to justify it.

Linde Werdelin watches are almost secondary though - they are largely mounting points for the dive / mountaineering computers.

Personally I'd see it the other way round - the dive/mountaineering computers are secondary to the watches - although they market them as a watch/instrument combination. I can guarantee that they sell a heck of a lot more watches than they do instruments though. (Oops, going a bit of thread here! Sorry Tim!)

Linde Werdelin have been featured quite a lot in International Watch this year - just like Bremont watches.

I like the fact that Bremont are trying to do something different with their watches beyond simply extreme design. I love the look of Graham - but they push the envelope almost too far. Bremont take a different approach and I really like some of what they do - the propellor rotor on the back of the EP-120 is a good example (though the case is DLC treated titanium).

You are also clearly paying for a niche name - they don't sell that many watches so each watch has to carry a greater percentage of the company's overhead.

I find I like them as well Roff. They are obviously targeting a specific market, which is fine as obviously not everyone can (or even desire to) compete with a Rolex or Omega. I like the look of the watches and the fact the numbers are capped I think is a nice add on; adds an element of uniqueness. I understand the pricing point also for, as you correctly state, lower sales requires a higher margin per sale.


That's fine Driver. I hadn't heard of Linde Werdelin until you mentioned them which is great as I immediately went and had a look. I wasn't a big fan personally although I appreciated their approach.

While we're talking Bremont, I particularly like their diver model that looks a bit like the Fifty Fathoms with the sapphire bezel. I really like it.
