Went to look at that Rolex Milgauss this morning and mentioned to my AD that my SA seemed to be gaining time more than it should. She instantly grabbed it and said give me a few minutes. She came back out from the watchmakers area and said he will have it checked out in about 5 mins. She came back and we continued looking at the Rollies. Soon the watchmaker came out with my SA in hand and said that he did a full test, found it to be gaining 10 seconds a day and he had corrected it and polished it up! What great service!

BTW. I told my AD that after getting the Rolex my next was going to be a Panerai. I was basically asking if she had a way to get one as she is not an AD. I have been to the two AD's here in town and one of them had 3 models in stock and the other had 4. To my surprise she said she currently had 9 NEW MODELS IN STOCK. She proceeded to bring them out so I could take a look. They are all brand new in their boxes with the extra straps and factory packaging. She said that they search for them when they are on their buying trips so that they can fulfill the wants of their customers without sending them to another dealer. I didn't think to ask about warranty and how the paperwork would be done since they are not an AD. Any thoughts?

Glad you got it back in good shape, chance! That's interesting about the Panerai's... looks like they got more than the AD's do lol

I wonder too about the warranty...

Makes no difference - as long as the papers are legit, they're covered. Panerai AD receive a list at the begining of the year - they tick off which models they want, but not the quantity, which is more often than not '1'.
There just aren't that many around...which is why I like 'em.

So how should I pose the question of warranty and paperwork to my AD. Do I say "your not a Panerai AD so do I get a warranty"? or how do I ask? Also, calling all Panerai enthusiasts! I want an automatic Panerai with the display back and the crown protector on a black dial. From my 07' chronolog it seems that only the Luminor 1950 10 days GMT fits the bill. Anyone know of a more simple model that will fit my description? I am very interested in the display back but it has to be on a auto and the whole reason I love the panny's is for the crown protector. HELP?

Regarding Panerai models, I'm not your man. For the warranty though, does it really matter if you're the first owner or the second owner of the watch? I'm sure your AD has the paperwork filled out as it should be when they bought it (anything else would be quite stupid - then they would be sitting on a pile of watches with a very much lower market value). I'd either ask, out of curiosity, how they handle the paperwork - or just mention "I assume it has all the proper paperwork?"

Good luck, in any case.

So, did you order that Milgauss with the green sapphire?

They said they would call me when they got any of the Milguass models in so I can take a look. While I was looking at the Rolex models I actually think I decided on a Datejust that I was originally looking at. I like the SS white dial with roman markers. She gave me an amazing price! I am just thinking it over now. I may put some money on the datejust and then if I like the Milgauss they said I could transfer that money to it.

The Milguass is much improved from it's previous release in the early 1950's. As you may know, it was made to handle strong magnetic fields in certain lines of work.

Truly a remarkable rework on the part of Rolex.

I love the repeated "Rolex" logo on the inside of the case. Very cool!!
