I have just booked a space on the Dover to Calais sailing for Sunday 22nd, Reason - To pick my new watch up in a F2F deal with a member from another forum from Belgium  I am driving from Cardiff to Dover, jumping on the ferry to Calais and getting the same boat back. He is traveling from Belgium to Calais to meet me and the change over has to be SAS like to ensure I can get the same sailing back

Total trip time for me 14 hours, total for the other member 4 hours totaling 18 hours combined traveling for a bloody watch.

Yes we are truely mad WIS's

Anyone else beat this for a watch collection?

Mart

Not by me, that's for sure. I thought having to drive 45 minutes was bad enough when there is a mall not more than 10 minutes in either direction for me

I've done some creative deals - not so much travelling as trying to figure out how to get the deal done when travel wasn't an option.

I wouldn't do it normally, but for a watch that is hard to come by through normal channels then I definitely am prepared to go through a few hoops.

I've travelled to sell a watch. Had one buyer from north Italy (I lived in Sweden at that time). I got more money for the watch than I had hoped, plus he paid for the return flight and one day of lost income (as I took the day off to travel). I guess he really wanted that watch.

Wow, he did indeed. Talk about the definition of motivated  Great story!

Good work Taffytoon. No doubt the adventure will make the watch all the more meaningful!

I did a trip from Stockholm-london-stockholm in about under 8 hours if I remember correctly this summer for a watch trade.
I flew to Heathrow, went out through customs, hade a beer with the guy I was trading watches with and went back in...Will probably not do this again (at least not with a over night stop...).

What you do for a watch... :)

Don't feel bad. The Emergencey Orbiter 3 I just purchased last week the owner flew in from the east coast to finish the deal. I met him at O'Hare airport in Chicago for an hour, did the deal and he left for his flight back. It was well worth him and me as then there was no worry about the watch being damaged.
