The past few weeks, I have been undecided as to whether or not I should sell or try and trade my Aqua Terra 8500, with ss case and bracelet. I wore it today, just to see how I feel. It is a most beautiful watch, but I feel just too big at 41.5mm. Anyway, I was typing in my ad in the Buy/Sell section. When I was adding the photos that I a friend of mine had taken, I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of the watch once again, that I abandoned my thoughts of selling or trading it. The chance that I could find someone who has the identical watch, only the midsize 38.5mm, and who wants the larger one, is just too remote. Here is a couple of pics. You can probably see why I changed my mind!




Have you folks ever had a similar thing happen? Maybe you just put the watch away for a few months, then on a whim decided to wear it for a day and fell in love with it again?

As I have said before, I never sell watches (unless specifically acquired to sell) because I find that I form an attachment to them. There are certainly times when I put a watch away in a storage case because it hasn't been getting much wrist time and then a few weeks or months later I will pull it out again and strap it on and it's like a brand new watch that gets a lot of wrist time for a while.

I can definitely relate to the way you feel Carl.

Usually when I get it my head to sell a watch there is no changing my mind. My old Le Mans was a case in point on that one!

Just as an aside, that last picture of the caseback really showcases the fantastic finishing that Omega put on their watches. I was reasding an article on-line the other day where a watchmaker was discussing the ETA 2824 and the 2892, and the various high end brands that use them as a base for their own calibre. And he actually said that Omega were a fraction of step above most manufacturers who use ETAs because the quality of finishing on the dial side of the movement was as good as on the reverse! Apparently very few manufacturers do that.

Very interesting point. I realize that it's not a part of the movement we would see, but it does make sense that on a quality watch, all facets of that watch would be finished to perfection. A good principal. Something that I am sure even a lot of ADs have no idea about.

I've done the same thing Carl, but it is always a temporary reprise. I end up selling it eventually. As Driver said, once I get it in my head to sell it, thats it, the fate is sealed. But then again, I sell almost all my watches "eventually" LOL. Except a handfull that now have permanent status.

Now ask me how many I have sold and bought again... and then sold again... and so on... sheesh.
