My wife and I were walking around the St Johns town center with my cousins who are visiting from NY yesterday, and since I had indulged the three ladies in all their shopping, I figured I could drag them into Mayors jewelers to look at some watches.
I originally went there to have them order me two POC's to compare and while waiting to fill out the paperwork, I tried on a Panerai 213 - 1950 chrono rattrapante on a carbon fiber strap.
Now I've always drooled over some of the pam's but trying this on my wrist was a different experience. I don't think I have ever been that impressed and had an immediate lust for a watch ever... My wife, who when I talk watches only hears the teacher from Charlie Brown (waa waa wa waa), looked at it and says "honey, that is gorgeous! ..how much is it" !
Well... Waaay out of my range is the answer.
The sales woman said they were having a special event tomorrow, and they were having a whopping 15% discount on their watches !! Woopee!
And it MIGHT include the panerai's...
So the Pam would be $12k+ with the discount!

Maybe I could pick it up if I sold all of my collection!

It was an incredible piece though!

On a side note rant... 15% ... am I supposed to swoon? Come on now!
Oh, and get this, I had to put down a refundable $1,000 just to get the POC's transferred from another store in Miami !
Funny thing is, if I bought a POC from another AD in Miami, I would be able to get a MUCH better deal from down there.
Anyhoo.... That's my story...
Now I will have that Pam in my head for a long time!!

Christopher,

I've been in the same store in Jax several times and though the staff is usually some what friendly I always get the "We are better than you" attitude. I've tried Panerai's on several times there and maybe because it is the only store in town with new Panerai's they act offended when I asked for any discount. Very nice/big store with very little watch inventory. I will continue to go there to try on Panerai's but don't think I would buy anything from them.

Regards,

Strange watches Pam's, I have never been a lover yet I sold my Rolex GMTIIc to a gent and did a F2F. He was wearing a Pam 90 H and I fell in love with it  I tried it on and it just felt right? Very well made and looked great. I have just made a very cheeky offere on a 90H and may well be wearing it next week if accepted?

You know I'm going to ban the lot of you if this keeps up

I just don't get PAMs, I've tried plenty and really have tried to give them a fair crack, but they just aren't doing it for me.

Still, who cares what I think if they work for you guys - enjoy PaneraiSource!!

Don't worry guys - if Pannie-hater Roff bans you, I'll just reinstate you all! I'm a big fan of a few Panerai, but I really struggle with the cost of the model I want.

:yeahthat Said it before, I will say it again: I just do not get PAMs. I realize that none of these watches make intellectual sense, but PAMs just do nothing for me. But, to each their own. Anyone wants to expunge some Breitlings from their collection to buy PAMs, let us know! :lingsrock: :lingsrock:

:yeahthat
They don't float my boat either but I appreciate that a lot of you really like them.

15% isn't exactly overwhelming is it  but who knows that might just mean you could get 30% or 40%, now wouldn't that be good

Sell the Breitlings and buy the Panerai, you won't be disappointed. I'm glad I sold my Chronomat for my 112. I wasn't a huge fan of straps but I've picked up 4 in additon to the OEM rubber.

15% off Panerai is a really good deal, especially from an AD. If you want a good deal, check out the dealers market on paneristi.

I didn't "get" Panerais for a long time, but that started to change as soon as I tried one on for the first time.

I agree with everything jnelson3097 said, and I haven't regretted selling my Steelfish to buy the 111 (Driver, I might need to call on you to reinstate me shortly  ).

I am considering selling my Navitimer World for a 113. A little voice is telling me I will regret it.

You should go with the 111 instead of the 113. The white dial Pams just don't look right to me.

Yeah dont move a world for a 113...

Mate you can get a 213 for MUCH less than that on Paneristi CM. More like $8k.
