Hi all,

I have been thinking about getting an Omega Seamaster, then I came across this one so I thought why not a Limited Edition.....

Are you guys aware of anything I should look out for? Are there many fakes out there? Whats your exprience if you have one?

Thanks for any views or tips

Don't know anything about this watch in particular but I've read previously that most Omega fakes have the Omega symbol with "upturned feet".
See this thread.

Thanks br549,

Have a look at this one http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220506209038&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I would say these "feet" are looking upwards.....

The pictures of the Bond LE are not good nough to tell about the feet unfortunately....

IF the upturned feet are indeed the criteria for determination of a fake Omega then that one certainly wins the fake award. Definitely upturned feet. Again I don't know much about Omega, just what I read in that one thread. Others would have to say for sure if it's fake.
Too bad the Bond LE is not a better pic. :(

I dont think this is THE criteria, maybe Omega chose to do it differently on different models, and so the Planet Oceans should not have upturned feet. But it looks like the Seamasters do, look at http://www.delldeaton.com/images/sea029b.jpg

Also the main logo on their official website certainly has upturned feet.....http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=83

Maybe I should post on an Omega specific forum, would anyone recommend a good forum?

Thanks

Indeed, it looks like you're correct. It may be only the PO that's different. Odd that they would change their logo for one model.
I don't have any recs for other sites.

Bumping this up for some help for the OP.
Anyone know of any good Omega forums that might be able to authenticate this watch?

Thanks!

Elwyn

It' real :D

To be sure, check the serial is not 05345/10007.

The 007 Seamaster was one of the first "super reps" and is very good. Apart from the s/n, the easy tell is the HE valve is at 52 minutes rather than 50.

by the way blingal, another source of info is actually the forums the guys that collect reps use. Places like ***************** and ********* , are forums dedicated to folks who collect reps and sell reps. I have found that these guys are quite expert at pointing out (modern) repros/fakes because that is what they are into. There are numerous makers in China and elsewhere who churn out reps of various quality levels, so I would not rely on universal "tells" like upturned feet, etc (said with respect to the members here who mentioned those) as they won’t apply in many cases (as was noted by others).
One thing to be aware of is that some collectors modify their replica watches with gen parts (dials, bezels, hands - in particular). Now they do this for themselves not to fool others, but eventually things like this can get on the market. Obviously there are unsavory types who modify reps for the exclusive purpose of selling them as real. Anyway, I generally have found that on the replica sights (which are heavy with replica Omega collectors) the members are willing to help with stuff like this.

Links removed by Roff. No linking to rep sites please folk!!!
