Hoping someone can tell me the differences between the B-1 and the other version B-1 with super quartz? Pros and cons....
Benefit of the SQ vs the regular quartz version.
Anything differences.
Thanks guys!

Cal 68 is accurate to 15 seconds/month.

Cal 78 is accurate to 15 seconds/year.

Or there abouts.

Basically just the movement, although over time the text on the dial changed a little too. Early ones just said "B-1", while later models had "Chronometre Certifie" (or something similar) on the dial.

SQ, with it's thermal compensation technology, is more accurate but when you consider how accurate quartz is anyway, it's all a bit redundant IMHO. The pros of SQ over standard quartz are simply the accuracy - i.e. a few seconds a year against a few more seconds a year. Yes it's very cool, but in practical terms I personally don't see the huge benefit...... but then I'm used to autos where accuracy to a few seconds a day is considered a good thing!

How about the quartz service issues? Do you think they can cause problems?
In this case would Breitling replace a B68 mov't and install a B78, charging the owner, during a regular service?

I agree from a technical standpoint, that its not a big deal. But realistically, if im buying a quartz watch for a lot of money, it better be SQ to make me feel like its justified.

You're absolutely right. Personal satisfaction at knowing it's SQ just gives that little bit extra when considering a high-end quartz purchase and sets it apart from the run-of-the-mill quartz watches out there.
