Hi!

I've been a lurker on the board, but this is my first post.

I have a Navitimer bought in 2006, and my warranty has recently gone out. I'm now (of COURSE!) having some issues.

It's running quite fast - up to a minute an hour - and the chronograph arm comes to a stop prior to completing 60 seconds (not at the same point each time).

I need to get it regulated, but frankly think the $700+ it's going to cost through Breitling is a bit much.

I'm in New York, and was wondering if anyone had any favorite repair shops, or any other advice regarding the situation.

A minute an hour is definitely too fast for regulating to correct. It might be magnetized. This thread may help:

Yeah a minute an hour suggests light magnetism, but doesn't explain the chrono hands problem.

You can take the watch to any watchmaker to have it serviced, but they won't be using Breitling parts because Breitling won't sell them to non authorised watchmakers. You paid a premium for a Breitling movement and will be turning it back into a Valjoux. Nothing to stop you doing that, but for my money I'll take a watchmaker who knows Breitlings because he or she has been trained by Breitling, and has access to Breitling parts and equipment.

You will also find that if you try and sell a watch with a non factory service record it will be worth less, and in the extreme if it does need to go back to Breitling for a problem then they will either charge more or potentially refuse to work on a watch that has been handled by a non authorised watchmaker.
