Hi all,

I have been looking for a nice ling for the lady "soon to become my wife" for a while, even picked up a recent catalogue to browse through, but it seems Breitling doesnt seem to make any automatic watches for ladies, they are all quartz. Is there a reason for this? It doesnt feel right getting her a quartz watch....

So you ladies out there, would you please tell me what youre wearing, or post pictures of your wifes watches? At this point I need some ideas.... :?

Thanks
Blingal

There are no automatic ladies Breitlings right now - lord alone knows why.

My wife has one automatic Breitling - she wears a SOH38. She also has a Cockpit Lady and I honestly don't think she cares that it's quartz

It seems to me there are very little watches for ladies.

My wife does care what she wears on her wrist, but I think she got that from me to be honest. She had a Sector (Quartz) when we met so she already had a decent taste  now she wears a Maurice Lacroix that she got from me, and thats an automatic. And she never takes it off, she loves the fact that its "made of lots of small little pieces of metal" as she puts it.....

I was not going to buy my wife a quartz "luxury" watch and she fell in love witha two tone Starliner and couldnt care less that its got a battery. I myself wont wear a quartz watch anymore but to her its one less thing to worry about.

Taffy, there is something about a Rolex that puts me off..... its the "look at me im cool and rich" factor that bothers me I guess. It kinda sends a message, and if youre not that kinda person, well...... And she is definetly not that kinda person.

I bought my wife a cockpit lady with the MOP dial and 11 diamonds on the dial. She could care less about the movement of the watch.
She just loves the watch itself. I personally think it's a beautiful piece for a lady, great size, can be dressed up or down. When I first got it for her I was more concerned about her scratching it all up... Resting the watch on all surfaces and not paying attention to where she would lean her wrist on..
But I had to let that go quickly... She just does not seem to think of watches the way I do. Same with cars... Mine is pampered and I show it, hers gets her from here to there.
She has made some comments about a colt oceane II with a diamond bezel when I stopped into the AD though! Again... Diamonds=pretty.
I'm sure some women may have more of a horological interest than others, but I still believe that most of the women I know like the "pretty" factor more than complication.

Consider yourself lucky! My wife started not caring about the movement, now she wants to debate the features and complications missing from her collection :!:

Usually in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and her birthday / our anniversary (same day).

Mine has a Cartier watch, Quartz but she doesn't seem to mind at all. I picked her up a couple vintage Glycines hand winds and she wears them quite a bit too. She is more concerned with the look.....

My wife started with a very small Ladies Rolex Just Date. After admiring my "larger" watches she now has the fever for Men's watches. She currently has a Breitling Colt Auto GMT on steel/ Breitling Navi Chrono on a strap & a Tag Grand Carrera on steel. Her watch size limit is around 42-43MM and they look great on her.

It's a Seamaster Aqua Terra Automatic in steel with a white mother-of-pearl dial (Reference: 2573.70.00). It's kept really good time and the missus is definietly happy with it.

Hope that helps,

I got my wife a chrono cockpit for our anniversary. It's funny: she readily admits the fact that she will never use the chronograph function, but she had to get the chrono because she is in love with the light blue dial (which Breitling only puts on that model) and the fact that it's an automatic. After her quartz Baume et Mercier, she really wanted an auto.

While strictly not a woman's watch, I don't think a guy would be caught dead with this particular color/bezel combo:

More pics in the gallery section.

She also wore my Colt GMT for awhile, which is slightly larger, and it looked good on her.
