All my computers at work are XP machines and all are working 100%.
(I skipped Vista  ) So why would I even consider trying Windows 7 ?

Well, I must admit, Microsoft has excellent marketing...
(reminds me of Rolex  ).

So far so good and my Initial observation: this thing is pretty quick (on a laptop with 2 gigs of ram )

Anyways, has anyone else played around with this "new and improved" OS?

Haven't tried it yet but IMO anything would be an improvement over Vista including going back to plain old DOS.

I'm not even going to lie - I've had zero troubles or issues with Vista on either of my computers that have it.

I heard that so many times about Vista...
Win7, is completely different from XP, like going from a SUB to a Bentley :D ....

Personally I hate Vista with a passion. It's all way too dumbed-down for my liking and in an effort to prevent people from messing things up they made it so damn hard to doing anything system-wise when you DO know what you're doing.

I hope 7 will be an improvement.

i got 2 Ultimates

I have XP and Vista
honestly i dont really like vista because it kinda slows down (even though i have X4 Phenom and 6 GB RAM)

well overall its fast but theres some bugs and stuff in vista

Windows 7 is EFFICENT and overall ive had no problem
the only problem is i bought VISTA Basic 6 months ago for $90 and i bought Windows 7's hoping to upgrade both

Well i got the student ones from a {some what }friend... he made me pay him $60

well im not going to install it on my Vista pc (currenly intsall on pc that origanly had xp)
so i guess im going to sell it ..... ($75)
am i allowed to sell here?

Between work, home, and my wife's office, I am responsible for about 8 machines. Not a single one runs windows.

Most of the pros I know use Mac or Linux.

Just bought 47 000 copies of it

We are deploying it to our company this week. remotely too. We are using SCCM, kinda nervous about it actually!

Altair,

Isn't easier if you purchase a volume license key?

I have windows 7 for about 4 months now (more or less) with the Build 7100 RC. The thing is a Release Candidate and i had no bug ever! Very good and efficient, booting time about 25 seconds, they were about 40 seconds with Vista and 33 with XP. So great improvement there. Ths OS also feels snappy.

So yeah, 7 is the new XP. Get it!

My step Daughter works for MS so am waiting for the cheap/free W7 to turn up when she can get it.

I think it is better, faster etc as everone says, but I can't believe one particular problem with it.

It is not compatable with MS One Care security package - what is that all about? May have to wait until my subscription has run out on that before upgrading.

BTW I have had no problem with Vist (Ultimate) - so just lucky I guess.
