OK guys I have been trying to set this up on the low for a while and have been looking at multiple parties, I even bought samples to check quality and value and have finally found what i believe is the perfect option for us.

The supplier will be Steinhart watches

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/

I have negotiated the basic terms with Gunther the owner and here is what we have agreed on:

The watch will have a German made case, and a modified and decorated ETA movement.

We will be able to choose the case material, finish, movement type, back type (display/solid), dial color, logo, crown type, and text and everyone will have a choice between strap and/or bracelet

The watch will cost under 1K Euros if we go for the new Chrono, or under 500 if we go for the non-function options.

I have two watches from him, and the quality is excellent for the money, fantastic value! Please note that this is not a Breitling, and will not hold the same exacting standards but it is surprisingly good for how little we are being charged.

I will start a dedicated poll for the watches once we are ready and if there seems to be enough interest. This can be a very rare opportunity to design a watch from the ground up and have something very special for our community and the prices will be very very fair for what you are getting. If you have a specific LE number between 1 and 100 that is significant to you please post it here, first to post the LE number gets it! Please note No.1 , No.10 and No.100 is spoken for.

The final version will probably be a modified version of one of these, though there are other options:

Very interested Altair,

Voted maybe/depends but that was more because I want to see what the final decision is before 100% commiting; if I like the final result I'm in!

Of the 4 links you post I preferred the first 2 in that order actually:

1. STEINHART "Nav B-Chrono II mit Lederband"

2. STEINHART "Nav B-Uhr II 44 mm Handaufzug

Just noting that I prefer a chronograph; however open to other ideas of course.

Please reserve LE number 8.

Awesome work Altair -let's hope you can do it.

I too preffer the chrono Tim, but we will see what the forum decides.

The chrono has a slightely modified ETA 7750 in it, which doubles the cost of the standard models. But it is worth it in my opinion, I like the day date feature.

Just curious Altair, I know it's early days but is there a minimum number of people required?

Sounds good.

I LOVE the idea Altair!!!!

All I would say though is that my involvement is dependant on the model and the direction the design takes. Weird colour dials, and/or surface coated (PVD) cases would make it a no-go for me. But that aside, then I'm happy to commit to definitely being up for it.

The Pilot Chrono (your first link) would be my preference by a considerable margin, then the manual wind pilot in second, and then the diver some way behind. (Sorry, but the skeleton model is pretty hideous IMO).

And I LOVE The idea of choosing the case material (Anyone fancy solid bronze for the case?! )

If it goes ahead I'd love it if you could reserve LE number 2 for me please!

Nice work on this Altair.

Agree with Driver8 - interested as long as it doesn't become too 'weird'.

Hopefully this one works better than the last attempt at a forum LE.

Thank you guys, really have put in some considerable effort and thought into this and I do hope this works out!

As you said Driver. nothing too out there to ensure we have enough people whod o like the outcome. No DLC (though I would like that) or bronze as that is too unique for most people. Option on case material are steel, titanium, gold (I hope not) and rose gold (plated)

I am pretty sure we are going with polished stainless here judging by peoples tastes, though I think the titanium is very nice and different! We will see how the poll turns out, Anyway this is still a distant discussion, lets see how many people we can get.

Final note, Gunther has agreed to sell the watches we design ONLY to our forum members or after we release the remaining. We do however need to get at least 30 people on board. I will try and talk him down a bit.

Depending on price i will probably be on-board!

Edit: I like the second one with the small second and display back, i also think bronze would be something quite different that most people would enjoy having in their collection!

I bet you have put a HUGE amount of effort into this Altair  , so I for one really hope it pays off and we can get enough guys interested.

To anyone sitting on the fence, this could be a SUPERB opportunity to get something really unique for not much cash. OK so it's not a Breitling, but it won't be anywhere near Breitling money and (as we found out on here) getting Breitling to make a custom LE is INCREDIBLY tough. I can't stress enough about how cool this idea of Altair's could be...... but only if enough people jump on-board. So come on guys - let's be having you!

PS - Altair, would you mind just asking Gunther if bronze could possibly an option please - if for nothing else than to humour me please? :D

Thanks Driver! Appreciate your sentiments and encouraging people to get in on this.

I will not try to oversell this idea, but I will say this. I guarantee that the quality of the watch and value will blow you away!

I already sent Gunter an email with a few questions, including the possibility of using a full bronze case.

I may be in considering I like final choices. I think that for something like this we keep it simple. I like a white dial, SS case, cheaper way (no chrono). Also I reserve number 99

Nice work, Altair.

I'm interested, of course depending on the outcome of the design, but interested.

I'd prefer the Pilot Chrono version, and the LE number of 3.

I would vote for either of the first two that you linked, Altair.

(Edit: I would also call dibs on No. 48)

I also had a thought, just out of curiosity, what types of logos might be thought of and so on. I just imagine it being a little weird putting "Breitling Source" onto another brand of watch.
