Guys, just a personal observation here (although I think a few others have seen it too), but I've noticed there's been a lot more posts lately that have had a certain "viciousness" about them. Quite a few posts have had an air of almost personal attack – I'm sure we all know in which direction most of these posts have been directed – but I for one would like us to try to rise above that a little.

This isn't me speaking as a moderator : I'm just speaking as a long time member who enjoys the camaraderie of the place and general inclusiveness of the forum. Very few places are as easy-going as BreitlingSource (in fact I can't think of anyone, other than blatant spammers, who has yet been banned), and because of the desire to keep this as a "nice place to be", I think we should probably be leaving things such as attacks on people's weight and/or physical appearance at the door.

As I say, I'm not looking to enforce anything here (and I'm certainly not about to start removing people's posts just because I don't personally agree or anything) : I'm just raising the point and making a polite request to suggest that we try and keep things civil and grown up. Thanks!

Very well said Driver, I couldn't agree more.

I personally have also found it disappointing to read some of the recent posts and would also be very much in favour of the forum returning to it's usual disposition. There are some things that are just not needed on a friendly site such as this and can have the effect of dragging down the place in general.

I third your motion

I also agree, with the understanding that I might have a tendency to violate this idea myself. Accepting that there seems to be one member who has a true gift for raising the hackles of many others on the forum, some basal response, of some sort, will always occur. I do fully agree, however, that elevating our responses to the level of ladies and gentlemen should be expected. Well said D8! :lingsrock:

Hence the reason I've joined another forum and i've yet to come across negativity.

The main problem with the people and yes the mods too, is that voicing a strong opinion is not welcome. I did just that with a post about an AD. The AD replied back and "BAM!" The mods took to one side thus leaving me out. Funny how judgements are made. Ever since that post of mine, more than one moderator and some people have been "difficult."

That's fine. Since leaving this forum and only coming here "once in a while", I've found that the Rolex forum is one fantastic place to be. They have a Breitling section and I have yet to encounter ANY negativity in any way. I love that forum.

Now, I'm expecting to be flamed for this post anr have it deleted by the mods. Good luck!

Couldn't agree more!! As a member who is best described as "traditionally built" myself, I find it quite offensive when people use weight issues as a riposte to a particular member's arrogant(?) views.

disagree with other persons viewpoints by all means, have light hearted banter, but getting deeply personal does not contribute in any way to a forum such as this.

Thanks for the input. This wasn't quite what I was getting at with this thread, but never mind.

As I always say, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and contrary to what less than 0.5% of the membership may say, we DO NOT delete things just because we don't agree with them. However I'm a little confused when you say you've had difficulty with "more than one mod" - I assume that means me as there are but two of us on here, plus Admin. And if I'm honest, I don't recall you and I ever having a direct exchange....... :? (If I'm wrong I'm sure you'll dig it out and I'll happily apologise for not remembering the exchange).

But anyway, I'm glad you've found somewhere you feel more at home, although I think you've actually amassed more posts since "leaving" than you did beforehand.

I apologise for offering to buy a copy of the Breitling Book with my own money and ship it to you before being compensated Brent.

It wasn't an offer meant to offend.

Now, why do you have to leave your post with a "dig"? This is exactly what I'm talking about. I went to the Rolex forum about three weeks ago (approx). I haven't posted more posts since then than I have since joining this forum. Now, this place being what it is, I am certain that you can/will source the truth and then try or even prove me wrong. I am expecting this. It only takes a few people in any one place to ruin an experience for a great many people...

Being on the wrong side of the BMI scale myself and also the wrong side of 40 I dont take offence at any of the comments

I do however find other things offensive such as calling a wife an assett or a belonging  That said I take on board your comment and will in future refrain from taking part in any thread started by a certain individual :lingsrock:

If I have said anything to offend any of you good people I openly say Sorry, I just found it hard to understand how someone can put so much worth on materialistic items yet have no pride or value in themselves or their well being?

It wasn't a dig : just an observation that I've seen plenty of posts from you including more than one post where've you've said "since leaving this forum so-and-so site is so much better", but I guess you haven't left.

I have no thoughts or preference whether you stay or go to be honest. Forums are completely voluntary, so if this place isn't for you, then leave............ Or stay and contribute - I really don't mind.

OXFORD dictionary meaning: "Leave - To go away from." Where does that say or mean that one can not return? I left. Went to Rolex. Returned here to "see what's up". WTF is wrong with that? I am happy that you do not mind if I stay or go. That has me all warm and cozy inside...maybe even a little misty-eyed...
