I sold my Rolex GMT Master 2 about 5 years ago and I still regret it... I have a Submariner now but I still wish I had my GMT...

Oh for Pete's sake, stop looking at it. Just accept it. I'm willing to bet that if you sell it, you will miss it. Nothing feels like this watch, it has a look and mechanical feel that I've never experienced in any other watch. You'll end up buying another.

The GMT, while nice, lacks the amazing ratcheting bezel (GMT has 24 clicks instead of 120) and the clasp. It also doesn't say 3900 friggen meters on the dial!

Wish I would have taken your bet Mark, I have not missed this monster for one second

Roff

I know your thoughts but I could not resist this

Weak man as I am

It is a 2009 so still has a full 2 years warrenty on it 8) and a LOT cheaper than I expected, I am in a happy man FOR NOW

AP is a nice watch, just not worth the money in my opinion so if you got a great price then so much the better - good for you taffy.

Just do me one favour - turn it over so that it's not resting on the crown - there's a good chap :!:

This is one of the pictures that was sent to me by the seller (I told him the same  )

I can not wait to get it 8) It is currently in Belgium and I am debating flying over to collect it in person (is that very sad?)

wow congrats that is a VERY nice watch. I always liked AP and if it wasnt for the ETA movement I would pick one up in a heartbeat. Still the finish and case construction on the ROO is fantastic!!! I am sure you will love it.

Too bad about selling the Rollie, love mine

Wear that beuty in health and lets see some pics and wristshots!

On the Add it says

movement and function:
self-winding; AP calibre 2385; 37 rubies; 21.600 A/h; hours; minutes; small second; date; chronograph

Do these definitely have ETA movement? I am sure Roff will put me right.

Unfortunately yes, no in house movements. Not to say that it is a bad movement in anyway, in fact there are many excelent points to a movement like that, for one thing it is extremelu reliable and time tested, maintenance is not very expensive and keeps both purchase and service costs down. Also dont forget that movement has been extensevly customized and decorated (by hand) by AP.

Some of the key features of that movement:

• Overall height, including oscillating weight: 5.50 mm
• Casing diameter: 25.60 mm (111/2 ligne)
• Total diameter: 26.20 mm
• Vibrations/hour: 21'600 (3 Hz)
• Jewelling: 37 rubies
• Continuous running of movement when fully wound:
in excess of 40 hours
• Self-winding in one direction only with oscillating
weight turning on bearing
• Oscillating weight in 18 carat gold
• Anti-shock system on the balance «KIF Elastor»
• Ajustable stud-support, fine adjustment system
• Annular balance

As Altair says, modified ETA.

That's my big knock on AP - they are trying to play with the big boys but without being a manufacture.

Me too, although to be fair they DO have some manufacture movements in their range..... just not in the Royal Oak chrono's. The ROO's have grown on me enormously over recent months, but 7 or 8k GBP is a step too far for me personally given the movement inside.

BUT I must say that's a very nice looking timepiece Taffy!

By the way taffy, you might want to order a nice brown ROO strap for that watch, AP make fantastic leather straps and it could freshen things up a bit with different looks.
