Hello All,
This is a very sad posting for old Archie to make..... so I will post it in 3rd person.

Old Archie has loved being a member here.... infact this is 1 of the few boards that has not banned him yet !

Archie is a sucker for quality.... and unfortunately Archie's budget does not stretch as far as the various plastic surgeons/corporate lawyers and other important people here....

So Archie had to sell his Brietling Navitimer..... to fund another watch....

Archie has just bought a very special watch and funds were needed.....

Archie bought a Patek Philippe Calatrava 5107 in White Gold.
It tells people 1) who Archie is, 2) Where Archie is going and 3) where Archie came from and WHO HE RIPPED OFF!

Archie's 20 year high school reunion was coming.... and Archie needed a Watch to tell people he had arrived...... SO THERE IS NO MORE CLASS THAN A WHITE GOLD PATEK! Obviously countless postings on facebook the week before made people reason what a Patek was! (as most of the "great unwashed" have never heard of the brand).

Archie decided his chariot for the night (for the school reunion) would be his dear friends vintage Mercedes Pagoda 230SL.

The night was a success.... heaps of people were impressed by Archie's good taste and class.... mind you ... Archie didn't find out much about anybody else.... as he used the occassion to big note himself!

Well done Archie,

Im sure your old "friends" thought the world of you.

Did they get a word in edgeways in between the talk of your luggage, mercs and watches and how they make you "successful"?

You really are unique.

Im not sorry you had to fund your watch to fund another. I don't mean to offend you in any way, but not everyone here is rich including myself. The one thing I can tell you for sure is it is sad that you didn't learn anything about your old freinds and you only bought that watch to impress others. I hope I am wrong and you really wanted that watch for yourself, but I can't find that meaning in your post. I just hope you can find some enjoyment in your life with your wonderfull looking children. I only bought my watches for myself and not to impress others. The price tag doesn't matter to other people and if it does they don't matter to me.... Again I don't mean to offend you or anyone else. I hope you saved some money to take care of your family because thats what really counts in this world. They will be the ones who will be there for us when the end comes. For sure it won't be some people you never see except for reunions.

Sorry, but this post makes me

why would you spend so much money on luggage? I didn't know that expensive luggage, a nice car, and a nice watch are what made a man. If I were going to my high school reunion I would want my classmates to accept for who I have become, not by what I own. Im someone notices my watch and likes it great, but I would not purposefully shove it in everyones face. Besides I buy watches for me not so other people think highly of me. I agree with the the post above me I hope you are buying these things for the right reasons. I mean if you like these things and they make you happy, go ahead and have fun with them. I am just going by what you have said in your post, and to me it seems like your reasoning for buying these things is pretty shallow.

stant0s I disagree. If everybody bought watches to impress others than Breitling would be out of business. Rolex are the most recognizable brand by most, so if that were the case everybody would own a Rolex.

Ahh ya see, that's generalising too much. Your name denotes exactly what my point states. People do buy luxury watches as a status, whether it's subconscious or not. If we didn't, and we'd only appreciate good quality watchmaking, and value for money we'd end up with Christopher Ward watches et al.

I retract all previous statements. Archie, you are a proper fruit loop.

I would like to make two suggestions here:
1. For the newer members who have not been privvy to Archie42's previous, ahem, wisdom. Do a search of his posts to see who, how and what he really is before spoending too much effort and typeface engaging him.
2. For the older members: Relish in the fact that Archie no longer counts himself among Breilting owners. This should be celebratory news for those of us whose jobs, cars, luggage and watches do not convey the correct image to impress others, as our personalities are so astoundingly offensive as to prevent anyone from ever having more than a cursory first impression of us. Today is a red letter day!ImageImageImageImageImageImage
