I went in to Goldsmiths this morning and had my CA sent off for a complete overhaul, and a new crystal. Thought I would just get the work done as want it back ASAP! I miss it already :/

I measured my wrist this morning; 6.25" - any prizes for the smallest wrist?

Same size as mine - measured on the wrist bone

Ah, just found a post on WUS from a week ago - I think the guy is a member on here; Stefan Tapp? Quoted £153 for a new crystal. That's making it seem like a bargain buy!

That's me and yes that's what I was quoted, I picked up a Chrono Avenger for a bit more than you paid, albeit in slightly better condition hence the price, but as the watch hasn't been serviced and had gotten a bit shiny instead of it's matt titanium finish I decided to send it in for a service.

I did contemplate the smaller service but I noticed a couple of the hands on mine had a slightly off colour compared to the others so in it went for a full overhaul.

The crystal on mine had a couple of light scratches in the coating so I went for a new one of those too.

It went in on its original Pro I bracelet but I have a new Pro II in the cupboard so I'll see what looks best when it comes back and possibly sell which ever one I don't want, which should cover a chunk of the service cost.

Oh yeah, service costs from Breitling a couple of weeks back for the Chrono Avenger: maintenance service for a Chrono Avenger is £130 and for a full overhaul is £270, inclusive of VAT

It's interesting the comments about size of the Chrono Avenger, mine sits in a winder with my Super Avenger Black Steel, my Navitimer World and my 43mm Navitimer Olympus and I think the CA looks tiny! It's a lot smaller than I remember when I owned one a couple of years back, but then I didn't have the Super Avenger or Navitimer World to compare it to back then!!

What's quite interesting is that a quick glance at the Navitimer World and the Olympus next to each other they look the same size (46mm Vs 43mm), the World is a black dial and the Olympus silver which just goes to show on a Navitimer how much an all silver dial looks bigger than it is!

I'm looking forward to getting the Chrono Avenger back though, I've got a nice brown genuine leather calf to put it on as well.

Stef

Thanks for the info Stefan. I was looking at the brown calf strap also but first I want to buy a Pro II, so if you do decide to keep the Pro I - let me know and I'll be very interested!

I suspected the overhaul, and new crystal to come to £450~ so not far off. Did they quote you a turn-around time?

6-8 weeks was the quoted time, I posted it special delivery which arrived with them on Monday last week, following day I had a receipt card back with the reference numbers etc. That card stated shorter times but I guess it will be subject to parts etc.

For the love of god!!!! get a Pro II or an Ocean Racer.

I just don't think that leather would cut the mustard on that watch.
