Apologies in advance for the long post (pics at the bottom for those not interested in the story)

I have been a regular board viewer and occasional poster for about a year now – here is the stoy of my 1st Breitling:

Around 3 years ago I decided I wanted a "proper" watch and without doing too much (certainly not enough) investigation I purchased an Omega Speedmaster Non-COSC Month/Day/Date model. As lovely as the watch was I always felt it was a bit smaller than I had hoped and within a month of owning (and further investigation) it I realised I really wanted a Breitling. However, I did not fancy the hassle of selling my Omega and I certainly did not have the funds to purchase another expensive watch so I continued to wear my Omega, whilst always admiring Breitlings in Jewellers windows etc.

In January this year I decided to list the Omega on "the Bay" for a price that was very little less than I paid for it to see if there was any interest - to my surprise it sold first time for what I consider to be an excellent price. The transaction went through smoothly and my search for my "grail" Breitling began...

After deciding that pretty much every model in the range was the one for me, then changing my mind a few days later, I finally decided on the Chronomat Evolution after a visit to my local AD. As I knew I would need to save for a while for this I decided to make sure I could get the exact model I wanted (one with some gold on it to go with my new wedding ring).

A couple of months of saving later and I got the opportunity to buy my perfect watch at a reasonable price, so it was purchased with the funds I had acquired from the Omega / saved & the rest was put on credit. Since I am not a fan of purchasing things before I can afford them I decided I would not wear the watch until I had paid it off and that finally happened this week.

So needless to say I am extremely happy this this:

Great story, and congratulations.

I'm not sure that I could own a watch and have the discipline to not wear it - I admire your restraint!

Congrats, buddy! That's a great story, and warrants some admiration from me. I only wish I had the patience to do that! :lingsrock: Beautiful Chronomat.

That story brings back memories about taking the plunge for my first B, a Shark Chrono.

Like you, I don't like buying on credit so put a bit away each month so that I could spend what seemed back then a ridiculous amount of money on a watch.

You've got a beauty so enjoy wearing it!

Many thanks to all for the kind comments. I already feel like the title to this thread may be wrong - I think the wait may have only just begun for Breitling number 2....

Great story! I, too, admire your patience. At least you had the watch so that you could admire it.
It goes great with the ring. I totally agree with you wanting to have some gold on the watch, so that it would go with the ring. I love rings almost as much as watches, and would love to have a gold watch some day. However, I would have to have a gold ring to wear with it.
I really like the richness of the blue dial with the silver and gold.
Cheers,
Carl

So many nice pieces - I really dont know :? Luckily I have a few years to decide whilst I:
a) save up for it and
b) convince the wife that I need another Breitling!
