Much as I love the Pilot bracelet on my Headwind, I like to have options, and lately have been considering buying a leather strap as well.

As the lug width is 22mm, I'd need a 22-20, or a 22-18 strap, and this is where things get complicated.
I'd normally go for a 22-20 strap w/ tang buckle, but I've seen a used deployant clasp that I might get for a good price.
(These puppies retail at 180 Euros when new  ).
The problem is that it's intended for 20-18 size straps. Do you think it would still fit a 22-18 strap?
Do these 18mm clasps come in different sizes for different lug width at all?

I'll attach a pic, the seller claims it's 100% original, but if you think otherwise, don't hesitate to say so! (The strap obviously belongs to the trashcan, it just hasn't been removed).

Sorry if I was too long-winded.

To the best of my knowledge an 18mm deployant is just that, nothing different for a 20/18 or a 22/18, though I can't guarantee that - need someone with the dealer codes.

Thanks Roff, there's still some time left on the auction, so if anyone thinks/knows it wouldn't fit, now is the time to say so...

I'm not sure that 22/18 straps are offered anymore.
I'm at work, so can't check right now.

That in itself probably wouldn't be a show-stopper. They regularly turn up on eBay in NOS condition...

Just realised (it's still morning here) that it's intended for 20/18.
You might have a problem if 22 doesn't taper to 18 with a same rate as 20.

That's exactly the thing I'm worried about.
But actually my use of the word "intended" may be a bit misleading, I don't know that for sure, that's the problem. I just meant that at the moment it's on a 20-18 strap.

There were 22/18s and 20/18s. a 18mm clasp will fit both however xx/18 straps are no longer made as far as I know.

BN thanks for your comment in the other place.

So that basically means that if I buy this clasp, and for example, a strap like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Breitling-Strap-B ... 286.c0.m14
then it would be a working combination for a Headwind?

I know, I ask too many questions, but I'd like to be sure, I just wouldn't want to spend money on someting I wouldn't be able to use. :?

Never too many questions.

I would say yes.

However as I said the 18mm at the clasp is I think no longer made so you may be limiting yourself in the future.

Thanks for the answer Alan!
Al least now I can make an informed decision whether or not it's worth getting it.
