Is $2500 for this breitling 1461 a good deal, will it retain its value? does anyone have this particular model, white or black and can post a wrist shot?

That's not a bad price for an Astromat 1461, especially if it has a service history (it's at least 17 years old so should have had 2 or 3 services by now). You can't expect it to appreciate in value, though it shouldn't lose much more.

Don't think any memebers here have one, it was only produced for a short time and wasn't overly popular.

It is a small watch by today's standards - only 40mm, but I like the Astromat look.

For the money, I'd say that's pretty good for the movement inside. But it'd need a service just to sure IMHO as you never know what's gone on (if anything) during those past 17 years!

I like the Astromat just because it's a bit different, but the size is too small for me. However, I'd have quite liked to see that type of bezel on the Chronomat B01 actually!

I would say that it's a good deal at $2500. It's certainly not going to go down in value. Because it's a complex movement servicing the watch may cost allot. If you send it to Breitling it could be anywhere between 600 and 1000, as a guesstimate.

As for the watch it's self it seems like a very unique piece. At 40MM it's going to look "normal" on the wrist. It may have an enhanced presence because of the thick look to the case and bezel.

If you don't like it sell it to me... :lingsrock: I always have room for more.

Thats A Beautiful Watch! It's A Good Deal (I Think - My Opinion). My Only Concern As Someone pointed Out It Would Be Expensive To Service. Nonetheless It Is A Beautiful Watch!

Best Regards,

Enezdez
