Just like everyone else has said thank god you are okay! Sorry to hear about what happened. Hopefully that piece of crap gets his! I was robbed years ago and like you something I can never replace was taken from me. I got lucky and he was caught by the police trying to rob someone else wearing my fathers rolex. I have never taken it out again. I am not a rolex fan (just my opinion) but I don't want to take the chance of it leaving again. But anyway maybe you too will be lucky. I am sorry for the loss of your watch but I am fully understand the loss of the chain to be more. I will pray for its return. I don't know you but I must say truthfully I am sad tonight.

I've nothing else to add that hasn't already been said, but would just like to express my sympathies for you over the theft, and also say that I'm really glad you're OK.

At the end of the day, while it's bl**dy irritating that scum like this can get away with your possessions, your health is far more important than mere items. Hoep the insurance works out OK.

Wow Wing, sorry to hear of this, and I'm glad that you are recovering OK. It's a horrible experience and trust me, it will take a while to get over it. Hopefully you have some insurance other than the credit card thing.

Practical lesson for all of us - get some insurance for your toys! They are too expensive to be covered under your homeowners; you'll need some kid of personal articles floater or maybe a special schedule, depending on your policy and your carrier.

Michael

what makes want to vomit is the fact the thug probably sell the watch around the corner for a couple hundred bucks :guns: :guns:

I agree.

Terribly sorry to hear about your situation Wing. I had my car stolen out of my garage one night with a lot of personal items in it - so I sort of know how you feel, but without the terrible personal violence added on.

By coincidence I got my "Personal Articles" insurance renewal premium today from State Farm ($33/yr for my Avenger Skyland valued at $4,200) and re-read the policy to make sure it would cover something like this. It seems to.

Get well and best wishes.

For those of you that have been mugged, where did it usually happen so we all can try to avoid it happening again?

I don't know if it's worth it or not, but the current retail is $4550 on the Skyland so maybe you should get it appraised again? I know the appraisals I've gotten suggests getting watches appraised every year.

Hi Guys,

Thanks again for all your support and replies. So far I haven't had much luck with anything, the Visa card I have does not cover stolen items since I have a travel card which does not include that feature :?

Since the watch was less than a month old, I did not have it insured yet, I was planning on doing so but I like to research stuff before doing so and had not had the chance to do so  I'm not sure if anything will be covered under my home owner insurance, I will have to try and contact them soon.

I have yet to talk to the Police that is dealing with my case, from what I remember in the hospital, he said he wouldn't be available til Friday and apparently since he is the one investigating my case, he is the one that needs to update the file. I have left him a voicemail and emailed him pics with my serial number.

At this point, I have pretty much written off both my watch and chain, the chain for sure since there is nothing to track it. I don't really expect much to come out of it but if something does, that would be great.

The next watch will be insured on the same day, I had already been eying a Rolex Submariner 16610LV (sorry  ) which I've tried on a couple times already but haven't pulled the trigger.

Anyways, thanks again for all your support and I'll keep you guys updated if you're still interested.

A shed of hope...

I contacted my insurance broker, I am covered for 6000 dollars in jewelery, it may not be 10,000 but it is something. There is a 1000 dollar deductible but at this point anything would be great. He is going to fax the forms into the insurance company and hopefully I'll hear back by tomorrow.

If I would of had the watch appraised, apparently I would have gotten the full value without paying the deductible. Something I'll definitely have done for the next one.

That sux.

I recently had a watch stolen following the delivery guy forging my signature & leaving it outside my unit.

At least there was no violence - which adds another dimension to it.

Definitely get insurance on these things.

A check for the loss of a beautiful watch $6000.00.

New Blackbird on steel $5500.00.

Smith and wesson 9mm $450.00.

A second chance at a thieving scumbag - Priceless.

Just kidding of course. Glad you're OK and at least getting some monetary restitution.
