I'm having following problems with my 2007 SOH 46:

The crown won't tighten to stop when turning clockwise as normal. It just keeps rotating, but I can't pull it out to adjust time/date unless I loosen it with a couple of rotation counter-clockwise.

Other problem is with time adjusting, it doesn't react to every turn, ie. I spin the crown but hands move only like with every third turn or so. Date adjusting works as usual.

Both problems occurred at the same time, so I guess there's something wrong with the crown locking?? Anyone ever had same kind of problems? I'd just like to know how serious it can be.

Welcome aboard.

The worst case scenario is that the thread on the case tube has stripped. This is a significant issue as I believe the tube is integral to the case on the SOH, which means you may potentially need a new mid-case. If it's the thread on the crown itself that's cause the problem then it'll be a much easier fix.

It also sounds like you have another issue whereby the crown is turning but the hands are not moving a proportional amount. This could be a stripped gear, or just that the gears aren't engaging properly.

Either way it's a trip to Breitling as none of that is a DIY fix.

May be the same problem for both - a damaged crown stem could prevent threads and gears from engaging properly.

Thanks for replies guys, this is how it went down:

I send email to both two AD's in Helsinki, Finland where I live. The other one replied me promptly within few hours, giving options for repair as follows:

a. only new crown is needed, cost 60euros with work. in best case could fix the problem with hands aswell.

b. full service for the watch including new crown, round 380euros. (the aftersales rep. was considering the problem with hands not moving could be due lack of lubrication or some friction and thus require total overhaul.

c. worst case scenario, exactly as Driver8 mentioned, is that the thread on the case tube has stripped. Then, full service plus new mid case and the damage is 600euros. This the as.rep. considered highly unlikely.

I will let you know how it sorted out.

Ps. for finnish forum readers, that Helsinki AD I'm talking above is Osk.Lindroos on Mikonkatu. The other one, whom it took five (5) days to reply my email, set the price for a new crown with work as high as 180euros! How on earth can they charge triple the price their only rival is asking?!
