They usually look to pay 'replacement cost' - i.e. how much would it cost to buy a replacement watch of the same model, sdame age and approximately same condition.

Whether you could actually find one is not really relevant, the concept is that you can't profit from the loss.

i have a separate jewelry policy with chubb in the us, its very affordable and fantastic. i had my crosswinds special insured with them, they paid me more than retail when i lost it because it wasnt manufactured anymore, fantastic coverage

FWIW, I just got "Valuable Personal Property Insurance" from USAA Insurance for my two new 'Lings. Fully insured, for my new Airwolf it's costing me $42 per year. For my new Chronomat it's costing me $70 per year. Seems like a great deal to me.

I've my watch and my wife's engagement ring on a jewelry policy, through State Farm, in the USA, aside from my house policy, and it's around $15 a month...just my two cents

I have a $5000 watch/jewelry/fur amount as a part of my regular home-owners insurance via State Farm, so no additional insurance was required.

I faxed in a copy of the warranty card with serial #s and such just so the insurance company has it on record.
