My wife, son,his wife and I just saw the great movie PELHAM 1 2 3 and it was great watching John Travolta in action but............... you guys will love seeing him shown many times wearing a black dial avenger but when they did a close up of the watch it shows him wearing a white dial COLT, several times!!!!
My son and I kept laughing about it and the brides thought we were insane.....
GREAT movie but I had to pass this little tidbit along... :lingsrock:

I'm a little embarassed to admit it, but I noticed that too while seeing the movie this weekend. The SA on his wrist throughout the movie was not the watch that they showed in the close-ups (the Colt). If I had to guess, I would say that Breitling was paying for the airtime and wanted to make sure that their name and logo was displayed as cleanly as possible in the close-ups!

I also just saw the movie. You have a point, they probably wanted to have the face of the watch very crisp for viewers, but why not have him wear the colt and then show close ups of it rather than switch back and forth between the two watches. You don't have to be into watches to notice they were completely different. I don't think he was wearing a super avenger, but rather a chrono avenger.

May have been that the whole movie was shot with the Avenger, and even the closeups, but someone decided afterwards that they wanted a different watch for the closeups, so they re-shot them. Close-ups are easy to reshoot but the rest of the movie would be more difficult. Movies are typically not shot linearly... so its not like he took the watch off and changed it for the close up scene and then changed back after. Heck, the close up shots might not even be his wrist.

I would venture to guess that the close-up shots were done during post-production and Travolta was nowhere near the cameras when those shots were taken. As to why he wasn't wearing the Colt for the whole movie .... he probably wanted to wear his own watch! (But who knows?!)

I think the person in charge of wardrobe did the goofs as they also did a giant mistake on the gun NYPD gave to washington. First they show the NYPD officer explaining a stainless Walther ppk/s .380 cal and then during the action scenes he is running around with a Glock. No biggy but a big budget , big actors movie like this should not have these mistakes. Anyway still a killer movie and great to see Breitling shown so much ! :lingsrock:

Definitely funny errors with the gun and the watch. My wife thought I was hilarious because I was pissed that they were showing a Colt when that is not what he was wearing. They should have at least used the same color dial and it wouldn't have been so bad. I don't think non Breitling people would catch it, I will ask someone that has seen the movie that isn't into watches to get their take.

Maybe there were using the Colt to keep the time accurate in relationship to his money demand........?

Could these continuity errors be deliberate....so as to create more interest and hence more advertising for the brand?

Otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this right now, would we? I guess the same conversations could've happened on non-watch forums globally.
