Hi Everybody,
Having done some searching it would seem that there are two or perhaps more schools of thought regarding the removal of light scratches from Titanium. I have a CA with a Titanium bracelet. As yet I have managed not to make any noticable marks but I am sure with daily use something will happen eventually.
One method of removal seems to be :- A rubber eraser (hard type)
The other is :- a fibreglass pen (I think it's the kind that you use on circuit boards)
Another one seems to use a washing up sponge (coarse side) which sounds a bit drastic!!

Any ideas?

Regards Bram

Or, just leave it as it is and let the patina grow. For some of my watches, I like that option. The CA is one of those.

I absolutely agree about the patina. The colour is great. I must admit I had completely forgotten that the patina would be destroyed in the scratch removal process.
Thanks for the reminder.
Best regards
Bram

Personally scratches totally do my head in!

I only owned a titanium watch for about 3 days so I can't help on the scratch removal front, but the methods you outline will remove scratches just fine from brushed steel, although I can't claim to have heard of the hard eraser type......

I've use the green scouring pad method (very lightly of course and in the direction of the brushing) to very good effect on previous Seamasters.

And for polished surfaces then Cape Cods are the only way to go.

Cape Cods (not Cape Code) are a brand of polishing cloth that can be used on all sorts of polished metals to remove light scratches. I think they were probably designed for gold, silver and the like, but they work equally well on stainless steel if you are prepared to put in a bit of elbow grease as well!

Have a search on this site for references to them as I think it was our very own Admin who introduced us to them a number of months ago, and there have been a number of threads on here singing their praises.

Check out eBay as there are a number of sellers out there. And yes, they really do work! :)

I bought Cape Cods to polish up my Breitling Colt Quartz that had a fighter bracelet. The results were astonishing. Really good quality kit and well worth the money.

Some time ago I bought Cape Cods to polish up a Breitling Colt Quartz with a fighter strap. The results were truly amazing. A seriously good product that is well worth the effort and the cost.
