Lately I've seen some discussion here regarding Canada as a good place for Americans to buy Breitlings due to the exchange rate. However, I did a quick search, and didn't some up with many discussions here about Canadian places where it would be good to do this, for shipment to the US.

(Have received a couple messages about other great sources for purchase, but would like to compare apples to apples to see if there would be an appreciable cost difference)

As an Alaskan with no local dealer, I would have to buy from somewhere for shipment anyway, so it might as well be Canada or anywhere else, whatever ends up being the best deal without compromising the authorized source. I'm not set on any particular source yet.

PM's okay if necessary. Thanks in advance!

You will be very unlikely to find a Canadian AD willing to ship to the US.

BUSA is putting a lot of pressure on the Canadian distributor not to. None of my contacts will do it.

I thought about this the other day and I cam to the conclusion that its easier and pretty close in cost to just buy from the US dealer that gets mentioned here. No canadian places will ship to you, and if you buy it in person you either have to pay the taxes on it up front or declare it when you return which kills the deal (assuming you happened to be heading to canada anyway since the plane ticket alone would kill the deal).

Oh yeah, I LOVE Vancouver. What an awesome city. And Whistler's my 2nd favorite place in the world to snowboard, so you wouldn't have to do too much convincing for me! 8)

Good info, all. With the multiple discussions I've seen here about Americans buying from Canadian dealers to save $$$, I would have thought that somebody would have actually done it, or found a source, where it would work.

Maybe I should just drive across the border. Wonder where the closest one would be on/near the Alcan highway from Alaska. :)

Eh... like you say, for all I know at this point, could be most cost efficient to just buy from a dealer of preference here!

Your best bet is probably to contact the AD that many people on this forum have used.

Thanks, I love it here as well, just checked and could not see any AD's up in The Yukon and the only ones in BC are in the lower mainland!

Would LOVE to attend the Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler, though. That is going to be one awesome experience for the Canucks.

Not a totally dead subject for me. I travel a LOT, and it's not way outside the realm of possibility that I could either be in one of the cities with Canadian dealers, or just across the border, and just drive across for a visit with our friendly neighbors to the north for a few days.

Most likely cities would be Vancouver or Toronto. Coincidentally, U2 is my favorite band and is stopping at both of those cities on their world tour this year. Hmmmm... that would be pretty cool.

I wonder what the issues would be with taxes and customs, either driving across the border or flying from Canada to the US. And does Canada have any sort of shopping tax refund program for visitors, leaving the country via airport or vehicle border crossing?

If you are a U2 fan then Vancouver would be the best place as they usually spend a few weeks here before their world tour getting the show in shape, just like the stones have done in Toronto for years!
If you do come to Van then make sure to give me a call, always happy to welcome visitors to this beautiful city!
