Firstly, I LOVE MY COCKPIT! :lingsrock:

For some time now I have been contimplating getting a leather strap for it to , well just change the look of it once in a while.
But each time I go to pull the trigger I step back from the void, why? it is that damm alluring pilot bracelet! I swear, it is the most beautiful bracelet on any make of watch anywhere. And now the sun is out in Vancouver, the days getting warmer, the sleeves being pulled up the dam thing is even more alluring   so I made a decision yesterday, I am forgetting the leather alltogether, I just know that once it is on I will crave the pilot even more and the leather would gather dust in the watch chest...Anyone else had the same problem? :D

Oh yes, looking at the ne chronomat have they made the design of the pilot different, it looks like it has lost that mesmorizing diagonal slant, what a pity!

Ian,
Same dilemna here. I have a TT Chronomat, pilot bracelet and I have a croc strap as well... I put on the croc one time, it looked good, but the pilot bracelet looked so much nicer (it doesn't help, in my case, that the pilot bracelet is TT as well  ) .... I have the croc strap gathering dust....Maybe, one day, I will decide to give it another try

I forgot to mention to you....if you remove the pilot bracelet for the leather you will be "downgrading"

A Half Ling is when you ruin a perfectly good Full Ling by putting it on a strap

Its so funny...I love it

I tried to convince myself to buy a croc stap for my Evo but I just can't imagine not wearing the Pilot bracelet. I have a leather strap and the blue diver pro for my Colt GMT have never used them except one time when I wanted something different. The next day I went back to the pro 2.

Spartan.
Your demo proves my point perfectly! My client has the TT cockpit and the pilot in TT is something to behold, can't even imagine what it must look like in all gold!

Funny thing is here ( and this is how wonderful personal style is!) I only like the Navigator on a strap, as lovely as the Navi bracelet is I love it on the strap more! Even more than that it has to be the plain calf either black or brown, there is something wonderous about the Navi in those combinations. So, this means at some point I will have to get a Navi so that I can have one of those wonderful Breitling straps!

The other combo that works for me on leather is the seawolf, I loved Carls pictures of his on leather!

I love the NAVI on the strap as well (especially the WORLD)... In fact there is one for sale on the FOR SALE SECTION. Mike is selling a very fine example of one... I came very close to getting it last night (after many PMs)...
In the end who knows...I might pull the trigger....

LOVE THE NAVI WORLD ON A LEATHER STRAP :lingsrock:

I agree that some Breitling look best on a bracelet, but my last two Breitlings were purchased on croc (Navi World) and ocean racer (Avenger Seawolf), both examples of watches that I believe look better on straps. I do own a blue crosswind and it truly is amazing with the bracelet.

I agree I would like the look of leather on my 6.75 but honestly the slant of those links and that high polish are what sold me on my Bentley over other watches by breitling and even other watches of different brands

Funny thing, I seem to be going the other way with Breitlings. My Steelfish, which I got last year, came with the PRO II. I ordered an Ocean Racer for it, for a bit of a change. Had the OR on it for awhile, then back with the PRO II. That is now sold with the PRO II.
On the other hand, my Seawolf has never seen a steel bracelet. I did get brown leather like Ian said, and was really excited about it. However, I put the Diver Pro back on, then now the OR. The leather was lovely, but it just looked really narrow to me, which made the watch look dressier than I wanted. Now I have a beautiful 22mm leather strap stored away! And I am waiting for my aftermarket leather from Vintagerstraps.
I agree that the Pilot bracelet is really the one for the Cockpit, though. It is the most beautiful strap, and also it's beauty is reflected in it's price. I think about a grand by itself! The only one that competes with it, is the Blackbird Pilot, which has special faceted edges.
Now I am waiting to get my Omega Aqua Terra. It comes with the stainless strap. I think, at some point, I will take Ian's advice and order a black leather or croco for it. In this case, it will have to be an Omega strap, but they are gorgeous. I was reading somewhere about the lug/spring bar setup being very difficult for anything aftermarket. The only thing that throws me off, is that I believe the Omega straps are with deployant. Must research that.
I am dying to get my hands on the new Omega. I have to say that it really is the very first watch I have ever purchased, where I would change nothing. In my eyes, they got it all right!
Anyway, my AD had a new Seawolf SS, with a PRO II in the case, and it really looked pretty good! What to do now?
Sorry for ramblling on. If I didn't have you folks to listen to me about watches, I would have noone!
Good night!
Carl

Same here! I´ve seen lots of nice B pieces in pictures and live on rubber and leather (Sounds like S&M party ). They look very very nice. The only thing is that IMO the PROII is even sweeter. Maayybee I´ll eventually want a little change and go for a strap. But another problem is that I think the slated bracelets are quintessential Ling styling that I for one wouldn´t want to loose. With other bracelets I wouldn´t have the same issue.

But don´t get me wrong I like them all. Leather, when it´s wide enough and any B.Ling rubber, except the new Diver ProII. (Thats boring to me as I already had one on a nice round faced Casio 17 years ago).

I'm considering a diver pro for my superocean to wear on a daily basis and keep the bracelet for dressy/smart occassions, what do you think? My
Main reason for this is the bracelet gets scratched easily even at my desk
