If your watch is still keeping good time - within or close to COSC specs of -4 to +6 seconds a day then you'll be fine. A service is recommended every 5 years, but in 'normal' use it's entirely possible to stretch that to 7 years without noticing any loss of timekeeping ability.

The only problem you may have is that when you say that it's seldom used the oils may have broken down if it has been sitting in a drawer unwound for an extended period of time.

I would wear it regularly for a week or so and see what the timekeeping is like and if it's withing COSC specs then don't worry. If it's significantly out then it is probably due a service.

Also, if you are planning to dive then I would definitely get it serviced first to make sure that the seals are OK.

:yeahthat As far as I'm concerned a watch's timekeeping is the single best indicator of whether a service is required or not. Considering the minute tolerances involved it doesn't take much to throw the timekeeping off.
