Hi guys

Well it seems you can't resist to reply!!!,so it did hit a nerve!,....oh and just to let you know i'm not here to annoy anyone at all,my first topic of conversation was quite valid,it just so happened that someone rather annoyed me with there single minded attitude towards all things Breitling re servicing etc etc,i only ever wanted to know could any respectable long established watch repairer repair my watch, that was all i ever wished to know.
yes i was quite aware Breitling would/could do everything/anything to make my watch beat as it should, and will probably when the time arrives send it to them to do just that, but the point i was making seemed to get lost somewhere along the way.
as for the quote'' chav'' well i do hope my pax seated behind me don't have that opinion of me!,....i fly out of LBA for you guys in the U.K to fellow aviators EGNM.

regards

So name me and shame me.

It was me that annoyed you, and here is the post that did it:

Location: Ontario, Canada 30 minutes in 12 hours is likely not a regulation or service issue, it sounds like it's magnetised and any watchmaker should be able to address that.

In terms of the service. There are some service videos posted in several threads on here - just use the search function. The hands are designed to be single use, and Breitling will not supply parts to a non Breitling approved dealer. Your watchmaker can reuse the old ones, but they won't fit as well and will be susceptible to falling off if the watch get's knocked.

In terms of what's included, you'll need to ask them - every watchmaker will be different.

Also, don't expect much love for a non Breitling approved service on here!

Particularly I think the last sentence - which as you have discovered is true.

Sorry I offended you, but my response was an attempt to answer the questions you asked and provide some additional information.

If that upset you then the PM button is there on everyone of my posts - no need to take out your frustration on the other 2,500+ members and countless guests.

Apology accepted.......we both know now what i was trying to achieve i think,it has been quite humorous along the way too,and has generated some good topics for conversation even if it has caused and raised maybe a few eyebrows along the way hey.
so off topic now..well off the recent topic at least,i'm now looking at getting myself or should i say my watch! a watch winder,i found these what do you think?.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Piano-Black-o ... 240%3A1318

http://www.finewatchco.com/DoubleWatchWinders.html

They seem to be very reasonably priced any advice on watch winders.

Why do you people think $200 for a box, that winds your watch, a great price?,I can just wind it with my right hand for alot cheaper! what do you people do for a living that makes you think that, can you earn that sort of money doing whatever it is you do??????,it aint a good price...it is just that if you want it doing then that is what you WILL have to buy a box to do it,it's not value for money by any stretch of your/anyones imagination

My answer on watch winders is always the same. They are all a rip off, some are less of a rip off than others. You have two choices - pay an absolute fortune for a quality winder and at least get support if it goes wrong - which they seem to do regularly, or buy a cheap one with Chinese internals and hope that it lasts 6 months rather than 6 weeks before you have to replace it.

People on here have had great success with both options, others have had problems with both.

There is also a lot to be said for manual winding - I have a number of manual watches and it doesn't take that long each day.

are all ADs that do polishing authorized repair centers necessarily? In other words, are they able to replace broken parts too? Does anyone see any disadvantage to having non-AD polishing work done? ---well, besides the point from one of the above posts that says you might as well just spend a bit more and get the whole service done by the authorized service center.

My guess would be no, as we have member(s) that have polished their watch themselves and later when servicing Breitling has made the polishing work properly, free of charge. If they do that I believe it also suggests that warranty will still be valid if there's an issue during the first two years. Having someone else polish the watch should be the same thing as polish it yourself.

Of course, if you're unlucky and get someone in their wrong mood, they might claim that whatever the warranty issue is it was caused by you when polishing the watch. But, you can get these people anytime, for any matter.

With all of this information on polishing. How often does everyone get their watch polished?

Thanks.
