I'm trying to decide between the Colt II auto or Superocean Auto. The Superocean is the previous version without the arrow hands and all the numbers lumed. I'm getting either one on a Diver Pro. The Superocean is actually cheaper being that it's the older one (although $100 is insignificant when when already spending around 2 grand). I don't know if I like buying the outdated version of the superocean and it seems Breitling likes to update every 6 or 7 years. Just curious as to what you guys would get. This is my first Breitling and my first watch more expensive than my Marathon GSAR.

Between the two, id go with the Colt II. If it was the new superocean, id go with that one. Either way, enjoy your choice.

:welcome: do you work at an AD as well? The reason I ask is that you should wear both around for a little while and see which speaks to you more.

Sadly I do not. I think I like the Colt more but I just feel like im passing up a deal. I dont think there will be another time where the superocean is 200 dollars less than the colt...

I think of the two I would go with the SuperOcean - it does appeal to me slightly more, although I couldn't really tell you why.

In terms of current model vs. old, I don't think it really matters, just bear in mind that the older one will be closer to the approximately 5 year service window.

That said, if you prefer the Colt II then that's the one you should buy - you aren't wearing the money and you'll be wearing the watch long after you've forgotten the cost.

I recommend the Colt II of course (i own one). My personal preference is not to have all the numbers, it seems to make the dial more "busy" but that of course is my personal opinion.

I love the older SuperOcean. I got one in 1997, and had it for over 10 years. Within that time, they only changed slightly, to look more like the one you are looking at - just a bit beefier case, around the crown area, and I think that is all. I traded mine in last year, when I got my Avenger Skyland Blacksteel. Now I wish I had kept it. It actually worked great for 10 years, I didn't even service it at 5 years (Yes, Bad Boy! - I know). When the major servicing was done, it came back looking like new. I really like the Colt Automatic as well, as I like all the Colt models, but to me the SuperOcean as yours would be, is just that much more special.
Cheers,
Carl

BTW, when I originally got the SuperOcean it had the stainless PRO I bracelet. When I had it serviced, I had the Diver Pro put on, and it looks great with the Diver Pro.

I am starting to co back to the SuperOcean. I just think it's a cool tool watch that is higher up the breitling aeromarine range. The model they have in the AD has the newer bezel with the numbers brushed rather than filled with black and the second hand is the arrow rather than the older version. I'll be going back in to try both of them on since they had to order a Diver Pro to fit the Colt. I might just switch at the last second. While I will never use 1500M WR or the helium valve, it just seems right to have it on my watch since I'm the better part of 2 grand for it.

I definitely like the "no black paint" look more.

I'd go with the new black dial Superocean over the Colt 2.

For me I'd go with the SO over the Colt. I like the appearance better and also the size. In my opinion it's only good that you're looking for the older SO as I prefer that dial over the newer one. The filled and lumed numbers together with the date window seals the deal for me.

My AD confirmed that there is no planned price increase for Feb.1. He also mentioned that JLC recently took back the price increase they implemented on Nov. 1.
