OK, so I was in KC for the Van Halen concert and stopped by Hannoush Jewelers (the closest AD to me) and was able to see and try on the watches myself.

Bentley: They didnt have the 6.75 in stock but had all the others including the Flying B (ugly as sin, IMO). I really didnt favor any of them. I felt that they werent different enough from the Navi to justify the price difference.

Super Avenger: Holy mother of all watches! This thing is huge. It felt twice the weight of any of the other Breitlings. It was nice, but way too much weight for my taste.

Hercules: Pretty nice watch, although I didnt really care for the integrated bracelet.

Navitimer Montbrilliant: A fantastic looking watch and I really thought that the Navi's would be too darn large faced for my wrist, but they looked good on my arm.

Navitimer Montbrilliant Datora: Black faced with bracelet. WOW what a stunner. Absolutely gorgeous.

Evolution: I looked at the Slate with black dial version and it is even more stunning in person.....but they had a new one I had never seen before that is now on my short list. The AD said the dial was called "Anthracite" WOW is an understatement. Not black, not slate, not maroon....something inbetween. Eitherway awesome.

Now I had went there to verify which EVO I wanted. I dont have the money yet, so I was just looking. The problem I have now is I really like that EVO and a Navi Mont or Legende they had... Darn it decisions decisions.

The AD salewoman was trying everything to get me to buy it NOW. 6 months no interest financing and special Breitling event pricing (they have a Breitling event coming up the offered to extend the "special" pricing to my early. I asked what the EVO's "event pricing" was and she quoted me $4080. only 20% discount. She told me the watch was $5100 MSRP. I was a little upset to not get offered the 30% some have meantioned here. I didnt say anything, because I still dont have enough money.... so why make a scene. She also kept trying to push me into shipping it to a relative or freind out of state to save on the sales tax. She could have just lowered here margin and absorbed the tax. Either way I was very pleased with thier service and allowing me adn my wife to try on anything we wanted. They even pulled stuff out of the back the they couldnt sell (because it was already purchased) just to let me see all they had.

But the pricing was way off for me. I mean come on 45% markup and you cant offer 30% off MSRP. :( Looks like I will have to hunt down an AD in the Dallas area next time Im there and if they will go 30% or better, buy it from them and ship it home to Kansas.

Not sure that 30% is realistic to be honest. Not sure what US markup is, but assuming that it's 45% that is applied on top of the Breitling invoice price.

To make the math easy assume that the watch is invoiced at $1,000. That will equate to a sticker price of $1,450 with a 45% markup. BUT, if you see a sticker price of $1,450 and ask for a 30% discount then that equates to $435 (1450 * 30%) which leaves the dealer with $15 to cover his costs and profit!

20% is a decent discount from an AD, 30% IMHO is asking alittle too much, perhaps you got the AD discount confused with the online stores discount. You can probably get 22-25% discount tops from an AD.

Not very many watch brands out there are going to offer you 30% off, so I don't really think that they are way off because they won't.

Save up longer if you want one, or buy it on the secondary market.

Today I was at the Omega Dealer ... here in Canada they still use old pricing. Planet Ocean Chrono, retails at $7000CAD, US retail is $5850. Too bad the US$ is worth less than the CAD$. He offered it to me for $5220CAD + Tax, $6000CAD Total. I can buy it for $3850US online.. that's about $1500 less.. and another $200 less cuz there is less taxes.. so a total of around $1700 more I'd have to pay from a dealer rather than online.

I'm going to buy one on the secondary though probably. $6K from a dealer, no thanks.

I just recently purchased a Chronomat Evolution from a dealer in Buford, GA (a suburb of Atlanta). I asked for and got a 20% discount. They ordered a new model from the Connecticut US distributor and the watch arrived in 3 business days. I am happy with my watch and my AD experience. I was afraid to go the eBay or website channels because of the risk of fraud and fakes.

Yeah I guess I was confused on what to expect from a AD. I am going to definitely buy my first Breitling from an AD. The biggest problem is deciding on WHICH watch. After seeing the admin's Legend. Man that is an awesome looking watch. That might be the one. (or the first one).

A side note. While I was at the AD, another customer came in and refered to the ladies at the AD as crack dealers. He owns several and was there to buy one for one of his employees as a Chrismas present. What a boss. I need a different job..... :)
