Hi Guys,

I am new to the Breitling world -- I had been eyeing the Chrono Cockpit with the bronze face for about two years and finally decided to go ahead and get it from one of the few ADs in Toronto, Canada. I think this is the only time I was glad the economy is in the dumpster ... the shop was ready to make a good deal!

There are times when I move my wrist quickly where I can clearly hear the watch winding itself for approximately 4 or 5 seconds. During this time, I can also feel the watch vibrating/shaking a little. I have never had an automatic watch before and am not sure if this is normal. I would be grateful if someone can please tell whether this sort of sound/motion in these watches is normal. I guess I could go to the store and check others out, but I thought this would be a good first spot to check.

Also, I noticed that the back plate of the watch was attached upside down (i.e. if you are looking at the face of the watch correctly and then flip it over to look at the back of it, all of the Breitling writing and s/n are upside down). Can't imagine that this is an issue but am wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

Welcome aboard. Noises are normal, especially for 7750. Case back turned upside down is also normal.

Same here on my Skyland...Quite normal for this movement...Enjoy your watch...

I get the same with my Super Aevnger, can't say I have heard it on the SOH though

The SOH has the B17 movement which isn't 7750 based.... hence less sound.

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm very relieved to hear that the noise and motion is normal for this movement and is not some sort of defect my particular watch (which would be my normal luck!). As someone else noted that the noise is associated with this movement, I have to wonder whether the movement in this watch is not as good as other movements Breitling uses in its lineup or whether it just happens to be a movement that makes noise. Your thoughts?

It's a movement that just produces noises and one of the sturdiest chrono movements.

It's certainly NOT "not a good movement". As Bnewbie said, the B13 (based on the Valjoux 7750) is a very sturdy and reliable chronograph.

Glad i have one. What i also like is the bubbling sound it makes from the oil.

OK now I'm confused.

Bubbling oil?????

The sound of winding from my Crosswind sounds like a bubble in water. Hmm, little strange to tell...looks like bubbles, but when you hear it good its the mechanic part of the watch.

Hmm sorry guys, my technical english isnt that well, so i cant tell my meaning right.

A small try. When i put my ear on the watch and a swirl my head around, you hear the mechanic part of the watch. But when you close you eyes it looks like you hear bubbles in a bottle which you twist around.

Or are the sounds i hear not good?

I think you are just hearing the rotor movement (or more accurately the gear wheels being driven by the rotor) - it's the same noise as this thread is about, we just weren't used to it being described as 'bubbling'.

Yes, i know for sure its the 7750 movement i hear. And to be honest, i like it very much. Sometimes my watch moves and is shaking my wrist (hopefully you guys reconize that ). Also i have more connection with this type of movement then a quartz. I looks like its alive sometimes.

Ah well, maybe i'm nuts.
