I am currently on the list for my AD's only SA Blacksteel. I will not be getting any kind of discount (they dont give any discount on LE's and said that the US is only getting 100 of them). And so this watch will cost me the whole $5700 MSRP. Now I havent seen it in person yet but even though its a LE (which I like) and the Blacksteel (which I like), I am struggling ove the $5700 for a watch that CANNOT be "touched up" if it gets a scuff mark and really because it is on a Diver Pro! Talk about over priced.

I dont know.... I have been thinking about a SA now that my wrist have appearantly grown and now fit the large SA (since buying the first 43mm watches the larger ones seem to look ok now!!) and that new baton black dialed SA looks fantastic (in the pictures) and is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Maybe I just need to vent. I am having "lack of a new Breitling syndrome" and the watch fund isnt growing as fast as I would like, so since I would have to put the SA Blacksteel on layaway at the AD (with a substantial down payment) I find myself thinking that a lower priced watch might be a better route. Also since next year we might get to see a LE for the group here, I have to keep that in the back of my mind that I WILL be getting a kick ass LE (hopefully) in the future.

just venting...

Scott

I had the same concerns. Which is why I passed on it for the time being.

First your AD is full of dung, 100 watches in the US? I am in Austin, a small city by any measure and have seen 2 of them already.

If you don't get a discount look elsewhere, your AD is taking you for a ride.

It's hard to justify paying list price for something when you’re used to getting some kind of discount, even if it is an LE. I can see the dilemma you have here. This is a tough call to make especially when you have not seen it in the flesh. If you are wrestling with the fact that it would kill you to see this watch listed on the sales forum for thousands less six months from now? Maybe you should wait for it to pop up on the secondary market? If it is within your planned budget and you feel just as passionately about this watch in the flesh as you do now looking and speculating at pictures? You sir are next in line to get a black steel monster! I'm sure that your AD would be able to find another interested party if it just doesn't float your boat when you try it on.

I personally would love to have a shot at one of these, but it is just not in the budget right now. I have a PVD watch at the moment, so I can assure you that it will inevitably get scratched. Good luck with the decision.

Hey Scott,

I can really understand your issues. I had the same with the last Blacksteel. I LOVE the look but struggled with the thought of dinking it. I passed on it and then regretted it for months!

I saw the new SA BS at my AD at the weekend and it's so true that pictures don't do it justice. It looked absolutely fantastic. Even though finances prohibit me even thinking about it at the moment, I've been wondering all week if he's sold it yet!

I guess you won't really know until you see/feel/smell/wear it, but I think there's a good chance it will blow you away. Fingers crossed for you.

Nick

These watches will be released to ADs over time - just wait and the discounts will be there. I picked up my AS Blacksteel in April (and remember there were only 2,000 of those), about 6 months after they first appeared. Canadian retail at the time was $4,700. I paid $4,100 including 13% tax.

There may only have been 100 watches in the first shipment of watches to the US, but there are many, many more on the way.

Good deal for a popular watch like this. +25% discount at approx. 3270USD. Pays to be patient, if you can stand the wait. First kid on the block always pays premium.

I'd pay $3270 TODAY for this watch, but I would be seeing it at that price from my AD! :( I may have to call around to some other states AD close by, and see if they will quote over the phone and if they discount.. hold it for me until I drive 3 stinkin hours to it.

I personally don't quite fancy the Blacksteel version of both the SA and the AS.
I mean imagine NEVER being able to wear the SA on a Steel Bracelet ! The ProII is an AWESOME complement to the size and 'muscularity' of the SA.
The rubber OR strap is good for a couple of months - but not FOREVER....

I talked to my AD today. They will discount the watch somewhat and they have on in stock if anyone is interested, send me a PM.
