Hi all. I am new here but cant seem to find a thread on this issue. So I have a Colt Ocean (A17350) that is on an 18mm fighter bracelet. I absolutely love it and this isnt the biggest of issues but does bug me from time to time.

Is it normal for the end links to rotate like they are in the below pictures? I have changed the spring bars and still the same. I am thinking it could be an issue related to the thickness of the spring bars (i am currently using 1.50mm diameter spring bars).

Has anyone else had this issue before?

Does anyone know how to rectify it without having to take for servicing?

Thanks,

Rob

The only reason for that to happen is that the incorrect end links have been fitted. The end links should sit flush to the case when fitted and held by the spring bars. There should be no clearance to allow them to turn like that. You need to identify the correct end links for your watch. Someone on here will chip in to advise.........

I've done a quick check, think they should be A17350 - 823A 18mm Fighter. See the list here.....

Thanks for your response. That is exactly what the end links are, which is really strange. Do you think it could be a result of over polishing from the previous owner?

Over-polishing won't cause that. There's certainly a fair bit of bracelet stretch you have there, but that shouldn't affect the end links either. Without labouring the point, it really looks like you have the wrong end links there as I just can't account for that much play in them otherwise. It looks like the spring bar holes in the lugs just doesn't match up with holes in the end links. The only other thing I can think of perhaps the spring bars holes in the case have worn so much that they've elongated to the extent that the end links can swivel. It'd have to be a hell of a lot to get to that point though. Have you tried removing the bracelet to have a look at the holes?

I have removed the bracelet and have attached pics of the holes. Nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Nope. I have a feeling it could be due to the thickness of the spring bar. As you can see in the following picture.

Thanks everyone for your help. It was a springbar issue. 1.8mm springbars came today and end link fits much more snug. Still a little bit of give but got some 2.0mm springbars coming later this week so shall see how they fit.
