When checking your watch for accuracy against the atomic clock, is it normal for the accuracy to fluctuate? One days it's running -2secs and the other +1.

Without knowing the model of the watch you are talking about I would say that it is 99.9% expected behaviour. For a COSH certified automatic the spec is -4 +6 seconds per day and it can go either way on a daily basis as that timing depends on a number of variables like temp, orientation wind level etc.

no matter what the model is, these fluctuations are typical for mechanical watches as @Arcam explained; -2 to +1 is exceptionally accurate, even for a Chronometer ;)

I'd say you're doing rather well for a watch as old as the Herc and only a -2/+1 variation.

Good to know. The watch was serviced about a year ago.
Has been serviced every 2 years by previous owner.
