Hi all, first time poster here, thanks in advance for the hospitality.

I've recently taken a strong interest in vintage Breitling, specifically the 806, 808, and 809. Seems like there's a lot of good documentation out there on Navitimers but less so on vintage Chronomats. I have 2 general Chronomat questions and then I have questions about an example currently for sale on Rolex Forums.

1) Were multiple case sizes used for the Chronomat 808? I've seen listings at both 36mm and 37mm and I'm wondering if one is wrong or if both are possibly correct.
2) Any recommendations on vintage Chronomat reading would be great! I've already read WatchFred's post on TimeZone, which was greatly helpful.

Now for the sale post: what do the experts think of this example? I'm not crazy about the gold plating and I can see some of it peeling on the side of the case, but otherwise, are there any obvious originality or condition concerns here? Is it normal for the slide rule bezel to be faded to a lighter shade than the rest of the dial?

Thanks for looking!

Sorry you've waited so log for someone to answer.

There's only 1 case size. The example on the Rolex forum looks fine except there is some print damage to the outside dial ring and replacements cant be found. Gold plate cases are less desirable than steel.

Thanks for replying. And yeah he was forthcoming about the damage to the slide rule.
