Hello Breitlengers

I found this lovely Bretling in Buenos Aires, my home town.

It is automatic and fully working.

Outside case measures 3,2 cm excluding crown.

Crown seem originally gold tinted but lost the tint due to use.

I see a number in the inside, but dont know if its possible to see it complete (as a help to date it)

Notice the outside says 21 jewels (rubis in Spanish) and the inseide says 17 Jewels.

Does the 406 on the back mean anything?

Questions: is this original? Date of manufacture? Model? What does BYDINATOR stand for?

Thnaks in advance.

Alberto

Dear forum

In the present post (which is my first) I got 40 views but no answer yet.

Did I do anything wrong or not following the necessary netiquette ?

Please advise in case I did!

Thanks again

Breitling threehand aren‘t that well documented and the vast majority of „prestige brand“ watches from Argentina are fake. do not remember seeing this ref. before, please upload a pic of the inner caseback.

I will have it opened for me and post the pic as soon as possible.

Thanks.

I attach the suggested picture of the inner backcase with the numbers 600233 and a better picture of the movement where the number F 695 is clearly read.

Thanks again for your help!

all seems correct, serial dates it to 1952, in line w/ dial execution.

The movement is a Felsa 695. This has 17 jewels. The dial (marked 21 jewels) does not belong to the movement.

Ding ding ding! Prize for the most observant! I was wondering if I did actually finally see a legit watch from Argentina. My inner karma is now restored knowing that I haven't (and am unlikely to)

Also reinforces my general belief that any vintage B that has a ruby count on the dial is fake. Am I wrong (genuine question)?

Thanks WatchFred , dommenzies and Buddman.

However, if the movement is original as Wtachfred says and it is a Felsa as Dommenzies says, wouldnt having the wrong info in the dial make a Franken but NOT a fake?

Thanks again !

Alberto

Since I have not received any more comments on my post, let me add a closure for future readers (of course, I will welcome further opinions).

The movement is an original Felsa 695 with 17 jewels. The number correspondes to a watch manufactured in 1952. The dial corresponds to the same time period. However, as it says 21 jewels, this is a franken (legitimate) watch.

Thanks everyone !

Alberto from Argentina

Interesting that the Argentinian view is that a Franken watch is legitimate.

Haha ironic colleagues...

Maybe my English is not so accurate as yours.

I meant my watch is made of pieces made by Breitling, according to your own comments.

Thanks everyone again for helping me out and bringing a good laugh !

Best, Alberto

Sorry Alberto, I have to disagree with you, even if I get grilled for it.

The rotor on that movement was polished (look how thin and uneven that rotor is) and engraved again. Just look where the "S" starts on the rotor and where "E" ends. In 1952 the engraving technology was probably not that good, but they never misplaced the engraving as the boys in Argentina do. I check the link above about Felsa 690 families. All engravings are SPOT ON!

As I have stated before, the Argentinian "watchmakers" are expert in faking the $70 bills. Just because the bill does have $ sign and numbers on it, it doesn't mean it is legitimate!
