I need to get a new winder, the J Queen I just bought was junk. Any suggestions? I need a double winder for my Chronomat Evolution and my Speedmaster. The JQueen, the 'pillows' got soft after a month and the watch crowns were hitting the glass..

Thanks!

TBH it’s entirely dependent on your budget. I’m a fan of watch winders in general, but I also find they’re a minefield as the vast majority of cheaper models are garbage. Essentially you have two choices - buy cheap and know from day one they’re basically consumables that will get noisy and/or fail after a period of time, or you pay more and get something that will last and is repairable should the worst happen.

As I say, the sky is basically the limit with winders, but personally I like Orbita, and especially their Rotorwind models. Pricing is higher than your J Queen model, but Orbita tend to last and (crucially) they’re repairable if needs be. Prices within the Orbita catalogue range considerably, but for a good quality, reasonably priced winder I’d suggest the Sparta Deluxe models or for slightly less, the Piccolo models.

Orbita is one of the best units you can get but you do pay the price up front. That said, when you consider what you have invested in the watches you own the winder should be of a good quality. I have also used Wolf winders and found them to be a decent unit and a very good company to do business with. Had a problem with my first winder that turned out to be operator error but the company made it good anyway.
Frank.

I have an Orbita and am also planning on getting a Wolf. From what I've read, Wolf makes a great product and there are deals to be had on amazon.

If you can wait, subscribe to Wolf's mailing list, about 3-4 times a year they have a 50% off everything sale with numerous other sales throughout the year!

What is your opinion on Benson (Compact 2.18 model) and on Paul Design (Gentlemen 2+3 model) D8? Both are on Japanese motors. They're around 400 euros.

I believe in buying quality now, went through a few different cheap winders and its money down the drain!

Kadloo watch winders are a fantastic value, 95% of the quality of the very top brands for 10% of the cost. German engineering and workmanship at its finest!

And their Panamerica model is currently on sale, 399 instead of 899 euros !!

found it:

http://www.kadloo-online.de/epages/6120 ... s/10802-CF

The OP would do well to pick this one up! FANTASTIC value!

Also, if you are shipping outside Germany that's 25% off (VAT is deducted) which brings it down to 300.

I've had the WOLF 270402 double winder for over 2 years (This one: https://thewatchsnob.com/watch-winder-reviews/), and I am very happy with it. In my experience Wolf has the best quality winders, much better than the ones from Jqueen or Orbita.

I agree that Wolf are undoubtedly far better than Jqueen, but I disagree that they're better than Orbita. IMO they're both very comparable brands in terms of quality, longevity, quietness, etc. Either are a decent buy.

I've got both a Wolf and Orbita. The one big plus on the Wolf is that I have the Heritage double model which has the storage on top for watches and also a travel case. The travel case was put away with the box and I just use it for storing straps and my wallet. The Orbita I have is the Sparta 2 in Teak wood. The construction on the Sparta is of higher quality than the Wolf, but my only complain with the Orbita is that is pretty loud compared to the Wolf.
