I’m new to the forum so apologies if this has been covered before. I am two weeks into my Avenger Seawolf and I am lovin’ It.

I don't understand the design behind the markings on the bezel. It starts off with 3 markers between 0 and 5 another 3 between 5 and 10 another 3 between 10 and 15. Thereafter there are only 2 between each number?

I had to go on the breitling site to check and yes it’s the same.

Looking at Seawolf one bezel there is a logical split to fit between the tabs and markers but 2 seems a bit weird.

I’m no diver so there may be a logic behind this or some other reason , anyone understand this? I’ve had/ got divers watches where there are more markers between 0 and 5 and then reduce after so the double numbers 10, 15 etc can be accommodated but have not seen this before.

Doesn’t detract my love of the watch but it’s strange to say the least

It's because of the space the numbers take up on the bezel. Also, if you count from the '0' pointer on the bezel to the first mark, you will see that's two sixtieths, thus 5 spaces between the pointer and the middle of the 5 digit - same all the way around. From a diver's perspective, you would either: set the bezel to the minute hand at the point of descent and time your bottom time to a 5 metre, 3 minute safety stop; or, set the bezel by planned dive time, eg, 35 min dive - set the bezel 35 min marker to the minute hand, then "dive the plan" and again a 3 min safety stop at 5 metres.

Probably haven't explained that very well :huh
