Hey guys,

I have a 1962 Navitimer Cosmonaute for sale at the moment and have come to realize its known to be quite rare.

I thought I would track down a Breitling enthusiast based forum/website and ask what one would expect to receive for such a watch?

It was an inheritance after a death in the family and although I have come to appreciate the watch and its magnificence throughout my research over the past weeks, I feel it would be much more appreciated by someone else with more of a passion than I for Swiss Watches, My true passion lies with old motorcycles ;)

Apologies if this post contravenes the guidelines of the forum, I will remove the post immediately if so, I appreciate any guidance or comments relevant to my post.

value will sadly be greatly reduced, as the dial lume has been refinished.
best to put it on ebay and see if someone has a correct dial available.

Thanks for your reply WatchFred,

I'm curious, reduced from what price baseline exactly?

5k EUR ? 10k EUR? Am I even in the ballpark?

Apologies for my ignorance, I'm rather new to watches and couldnt find one in any similar condition for sale anywhere online.

but I am sure you will receive some offers for it in it‘s current state, would still think only an auction will get you the best result.

even with bad/black lume on the dial this would have been a (at least) 20-25K euro watch
now sadly reduced to maybe 8-10K , possibly not even that much

such a shame it was relumed and now no longer original

Although I am not an expert on watches of this vintage, I would have thought the value would really depend on a number of things. If we take a starting point of 25k (EUR) for a perfect example and go from there.
So 25k gets you a perfect example, with the original box and papers.
Without either of these things you would see a significant drop in value. A further drop in value due to the non-original dial (not sure if the strap is original).
One of the problems here also is lack of documentation for provenance. I recommend the watch to authenticated by someone who is an approved expert.

I have seen these watches for sale from time to time, my guess would be a value of around 5-8k EUR. But then again it is very rare so it could be much higher.

Actually if we use an example of something you are interested in - vintage motorbikes (not my subject sadly!). I am sure there are rare classic bikes out there lets say worth around say EUR 10K on average. If someone had one in very low mileage in totally mint condition with all the necessary documentation then theirs would surely be worth easily double or triple the average.
