Here are some pics of my 1962 809. I collect mostly vintage Rolex, but do pick up the occasional interesting chronograph that I find. I found this one locally, and upon researching the watch further, believe it to be somewhat rare.

Please give your opinions!

I haven't found another that has sold recently, and am unclear on value. Any information on value or links to sold or for sale watches would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The first two pics are taken in the car just after I bought it, with the watch on a more modern Breitling strap and buckle. I changed the strap to a thinner one for wear on a smaller wrist.

Exceedingly rare and very, very nice. Congratulations. A value on a watch like this is whatever someone is willing to pay... I'm guessing it's worth a bit more than what it cost you.... !!

Exceedingly rare indeed!
Looking for one for years!
Congrats ;)
By the way, dial variations and timeline are not very clear to me...
Some have B+Breitling(+Geneve sometimes) + Unsigned wings + Cosmonaute + Navitimer, I saw one with no Breitling, signed wings+Cosmonaute+Navitimer...
And this one has no Breitling, signed wings and navitimer only, no Cosmonaute...
Is there a general consensus on 809 time line?

I've been looking for it for years, and if there is one, then I never found it....

No , we did some research with watchfred, there are variations, with the signed/unsigned wings, Breitling or not, Cosmonaute or not.
If there is a logic or a timeline, it's not related to the case number, that's all I can tell.

we have 9 documented pieces of the all black wide bezel - no logic correlation whatsoever we could find between serial numbers and dial specifics, as Francois says.

funny side note - a case with the "earliest" serial number was among the last assembled, if we assume (and we are quite positive this is true) the panda dial came after the all black, as the lowest serial wide bezel case holds a panda dial ;)
