I stumbled across these pics on TZ. I hope the original poster does not mind me posting this over here, and if you do please PM or post and I will take it down ASAP. But I thought people here would be VERY interested to see this..This guy sent his pro 2 off to be PVD'd and I think the results look incredible. The color matches 95% if you ask me..Breitling should take notes on this piece :)

Have you noticed there's a scratch on the bezel between the 12 and the 5 minute mark. On the first pic I thought it was the photo, but the third one you can see it pretty clearly.

wow that looks great... does anyone know if it's possible to get PVD touch up ups if you scratch off parts of the black coating?

No you can't. PVD is a similar concept to gold plating, so it's not terribly durable. You can get a 'touch up' pen, but it's not the same. The watch is Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) which is much more durable, but same problem - it can't be touched up - and DLC bracelets don't work, largely because DLC damages DLC so the movement of the links will cause damage.

I wish that it could be done as well. I think that looks amazing!

So this bracelet will look terrible after a few months on the wrist?

Depends how well it's looked after, but I would certainly have concerns about durability.

That said, there are some intermediate watch brands that produce PVD watches, so we're not talking completely impractical. Again, a comparison with gold plate is appropriate.

I think it would be quite hard to maintain, particularily on the underside if the clasp? Especialy since it's the epitome of a tough looking tool watch... Not really something you'd wear with a suit and be all carefull

I think so, but I have bookmarked the thread to see (hopefully) the evolution. And, just to add, hopefully I'm wrong about the look in a couple of months.

So, anyone know how this looks now? It's been a while, I figure the guy has had enough time to let the PVD rub onto PVD... is it ruined or good to go?
