Well done for not buying, you would have regretted it at that price point.

A friend of mine likes talking about the unparalleled accuracy of Breitling's thermo-compensated quartz movement. And my answer to him is always the same: a printed circuit has no soul.

Maybe so, but with an accuracy of +/- 10 sec per year, it can be the spiritual guide for all the mechanical souls in your watch box who tend to lose their way each month. Plus, if you don't like the look of a traditional chronograph it's a nice way to still have that feature, plus an alarm, and a second time zone.

This mechanical vs quartz dialogue always intrigues me. A nice mix of both is the right answer for many of us. For the mechanical watch the art of the design, the craftsmanship, the challenge of the "complications", and history are all compelling aspects of a traditional watch. IMHO, the quartz "no heart beat" and "no soul" arguments don't ring true. The quartz resonance is truly a heartbeat for those who understand the technology. The challenge of motor minuraturization, micro circutry design and fabrication, software engineering of thousands of lines of code, cramming numerous "complications" and sensors into a wrist package, etc. is indeed a marvel matching that of the mechanical watch. Quartz watches do indeed have a delicate "soul". But how many of us really understand harnessing billions of those zippy electrons? We need only think about the challenges facing the B-50 to realize the design and fabrication difficulty of achieving such a quartz timepiece. Yes, my astonishingly accurate quartz watches also have a heartbeat and soul - and the majority of the casual observers can't even tell which watch is powered what way when they check out my bling.

Enjoy both mechanical and quartz for what they have to offer. Get over the quartz hangup. :poke:

As I've said in other posts on this always interesting question I agree with this. The way I see it mechanical and quartz are simply two forms of technology, one newer than the other; that it's ahistorical to regard mechanical as natural and quartz artificial. During the industrial revolution, mechanisation provoked exactly the sorts of comments which quartz sometimes provokes now - ie since machines were functionally replacing animals and humans, people thought they had no heartbeat and no soul!

Preferring mechanical to quartz on a wide variety of grounds - the thought / sight of a physical movement, fascination with a visible technology, the interaction of winding, the lack of a battery etc etc - is another and perfectly logical matter of course. I do myself, most of the time.

As most of us discover in the course of our terrible addiction, the solution to any dilemma is always have to both...

I've had my aerospace for several years now. Yes, it's a quartz but it's a great looking watch, very comfortable, light weight, and extremely accurate as it is also COSC certified.
It also has all the functions one would need in a watch. I had been attracted to that watch for a long time, and that is why I got it. I am more into automatic watches now, and own Rolex, Hublot, and Omega automatic and manual pieces. My aerospace, however, is my go to watch when I travel because of its functions, and also because it is more under the radar considering some of the countries I travel to. If the watch speaks to you and you are getting that good of a deal, I would buy it.

I feel the same but it's the ticking second hand that is my real issue with quartz watches. Since the Aero lacks one it became a non issue. I also bought mine from an AD losing their status and only got 30% off. 40% is a great discount. It's a great watch.

I agree. Not having a ticking seconds hand make this watch more palatable than a quartz watch with one. Plus, it's a digital watch, not just a plain quartz. Also, it's so comfortable that you don't notice it's on at times. These factors made me pull the trigger on my first quartz watch since I got into watches.

seriously , then dont buy it , you'll regret it !

:yeahthat

As good as Breitling quartz watches are, if you're just not feeling it, then you will definitely DEFINITELY regret it. I did it myself in the past and yep, I regretted it.
