I need some help about a watch I’m about to buy, do you know anything about this Breitling in the Picture? Year it was made? Movement? How many were made? Price range?

Am on a phone so will let others comment, although I have my suspicions. However, I have deleted your duplicate thread, please don't double post.

Do you have pictures of the case back and movement you can provide?

Want to see the whole package to make a commit but.... That sun 'smile' is not right.

Can't wait to see which horo-savant puts this movement together in their head.

They cannot provide pics of the assembled movement? That's fishy. Ask for assembled photos first and foremost.

not so hard - it is one of several 1990s LE reissues. assembled by Breitling, all 18k.

bull story about "vintage movements miraculously found in the cellar of the factory, wrapped in oil cloth",
a Breitling Hanukka miracle, as many of the movements were, as far as we know, never used by Breitling and Sicura AG did not take over the old factory building or offices.

similar (eerily so) piece is on offer from a Stuttagart auction house advertised as 1930s/1940s with an opening bid about 4-5 times typical sales prices.

most of the other LE models at least got the Breitling logo right, at least.

Thanks for the help! So it wasn't Breitling who actualy made it? What auction house is it? What do you consider a fair price on this?

The early moonfaces are not as "happy" as this gent is. Fred knew right off of course. Think we had one of these posted not long ago also....

it was Breitling who commissioned the cases and dials and assembled them,
not in the 1940s, but in the 1990s.

Epple Stuttgart.

last auction I watched ended around 5k, no collector market for these.

all LE were rather small production runs, around 200 max, iirc this one was far smaller, maybe 50 ?

Rene might remember more.

Fred, thanks again.

But the movement is good? When you say there is no collector market is beause it was a reissue or because it isn't ''real'' Breitling?

it isn't a vintage watch, but a modern piece with a vintage movement.
Some brands launched such watches w/ huge succes (the Panerai Rattrapante is such an example), Breitling failed to build up a relevant long term demand for these.
the movement is excellent.

Nice , but not vintage , although I would like to see a clear movement shot as well , and in and outside casebacks
the real LE had some markings and engravings afaik
