Any idea of the retail on this one??

USD6,200 before taxes, in US on Pilot bracelet.

r u sure, Wes ? Surprised, as EU prices w/o taxes are "only" around $5.4k ?
would be atypical.

I used our US proxy to get quotes from US ADs, all of them were the same, PA, DC, etc...
I should try our EU proxy to get EU prices.
Fred, are you sure your prices are in USD and not perhaps in Euro?
HKD50,810 ( or 6,500 in real Dollars) here in Honki Land, no extra taxes or duties.

Price comes up $6200 on Breitling's USA Website when purchase with Pilot bracelet. When you outfit it with the Black Military strap the price is $4920! I guess it all depends on how you "build it".

Correct, when I purchased mine retail was $4920 on the black military strap ($4700 head only).

Wes, quoted prices are in €, of course ;)

but €5,200 - 20%VAT * 1.26 $/€ = $5,460

yes, the € has fallen recently, but far less than that difference.

I am sure that if breitling provided a quantum of conventional naming continuity their resale would go up. What Roff said is spot on they've been doing this for a while. Also I don't think it is a wise endeavor to try to match dollars and euros and assume that's their pricing. Assuming that's the way it works is a wrong assumption there is market optimization. Range Rovers in the UK are about 20k more expensive if you just went with exchange rates that's before taxes and 8 dollar gas.

The price doesn't seem so bad though I like the older one more.

Breitling does attempt to maintain approximately stable global pricing and have been known to adjust prices in some markets due to currency fluctuations - Australia and Canada in recent years are the more documented ones (on here).

A lot of the strategy is to try and protect regional distributors from losing business to overseas sales. I suspect that the Euro price may be an error that will be corrected in time.

Roff you know more about watches than I ever want to. I can buy any breitling in the Caribbean for much less than stateside. If I understand it that contradicts your theory.

No, it means that tax and discounting strategy are different in the Caribbean.

Fallen? Is that what you call it? More like it took a deep dive with help of a rocket engine pushing it south :-)
I'm glad I sold all my EUR a few months ago.
Maybe I should buy them back now ;-)

No pricing info up on the Canadian site yet but I do have a question. Anyone know if I could order the military strap with fold over clasp that comes with the Chronomat 44 Airborne?? It looks to be the same size but the site won't let me build it like that.

Also interesting is that it's 1mm thinnner than the Headwind.

The case and lugs do have more of a curvature like the Cockpit model. It wears very well, kinda like a thinner (14.3mm) and lighter (104g) Chronomat case. I like this case design better than the Headwind.

Nice pick up Terry. I like it; looks good on the band also.

Lets agree to disagree but I think your rolling a ball uphill if you suggest market optimization is not at play or your agreeing to it but calling it a different name "discount strategy"

UK is I believe is very smart, and the EU may alienate them soon. I just don't think you can have a currency based on goodwill of a new conglomeration or federation or whatever. The dollar transitioned to that over time and still is more volatile compared to the pound which I think is still based on hard assets.

First time poster, first time owner. Bought my first Breitling last weekend, and it's a Galactic 44 with a blue face and pilots bracelet. So far I'm in love. When I bought it I didn't realize it was a brand new model. It's just the one that caught my eye, and I kept coming back to it. Was a bit of an impulse vegas purchase but I don't regret it, so I guess I made the right choice. Hopefully first of many.

Congrats and welcome to BSource! I saw the Metallica blue (a little brighter blue) dial version the other day and it was very nice, wasn't sure how it would look with the vintage lume but it was a pleasant surprise.
