Hello all,
I am a first time watch buyer looking to get a Superocean chronograph ii. I have been shopping around and the best deal I could get was $4800 (list is $6250) from the local dealer. Is this a good deal? Why are the internet retailers so cheap? Please help! Thank you.

Internet retailers are cheap because they aren't authorised. You don't get a Breitling warranty from them and their in house warranty is useless.

These day's that's a substantial discount from list price, but if you are in the US try contacting member jnelson3097 for contact details of Govbergs. They're a forum sponsor AD that comes very highly recommended.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

I ordered a new Superocean chronograph ii through my local ad. They called me back and said that breitling discontinued the color abyss white. After a couple of phone calls my local ad was able to locate one and get it. Can't wait!

Discontinued? But it's still available on Breitlings website with the "My Breitling made to measure" function. However, you'll like it! Abyss white rocks! :lingsrock:

Got the call from my AD that they were able to locate the watch from another dealer. Hopefully it will be mine soon!

It is a very interesting question how watches that are sold by "grey market dealers" find their way to them. I understand that sometimes they buy whole protfolios from bankrupt dealers but I think it's usually made up by older models. Of course I can name a few such grey market actors inside the EU too who deliver brand new models too and are on the market since decades now. I think that the watch factories are not really sad about them as they sell lots of their items. If they really wanted, they could prevent their goods from finding their way outside the AD-s...
Just my thoughts, aimed not to offend anyone. Excuse me if this has already been discussed and for "stealing the thread" a little bit.
BTW I love and maybe go for the BEB dial CSO II. Steelfish but the missing "2" still bugs me. (Day-date on the Steelfish Chrono is still way more important than a digit or hour marker at "2" on the normal CSO II. but the 7750 with a dial of this size can easily show both - plenty of examples on the market.) I hope to get used to it. A beautiful watch, anyway.
Enjoy!
