I am familiar with the red markings in post 67 806s, but just noticed this today and didn't see anything readily online to explain it. Here are 806 gold dials, one with a "gold box" that I hsve never noticed before. Is it correct? If so, Is there a significance in red vs gold, ie year or 18k vs pLated? Or is it a replacement?

it's faded from the original orange. correct for gold/GP pieces.

here's a slightly less faded example ;)

Thanks Fred - my images are 2 different watches, yes? The first one is well faded, yes, but the second one looks like gold to me, not faded....

The fact that the sliderule is still red then implies it's a replacement?

yes. but the fact that u have a boxed 10 dial and a non-boxed sliderule is enough to tell it's a replacement.
red boxed 10 sliderules are almost impossible to find, orange ??? never seen one for sale.
