I need some help as i really can't decide !! I'm planning to buy a breitling next month and I'm undecided between the Chronomat 44 GMT (Gray Dial) or the Navitimer 01. Any opinions ?? I'm in love with both of them but buying both is definitely not gonna happen !!

For me, the 01 would be a clear winner. My goodness it's gorgeous. But if you're a more sporty and/or casual guy, maybe the chronomat is for you.

Maybe you can provide more info such as what existing models you have in yr collection or is this your first luxury watch? Are you just going to have only one watch or....?

Both are great watches but if you are just going to have one watch I personally feel that the 44 GMT might be better as it's a better all rounder as compared to the Navi whose WR is a major disadvantage.

That depends on purpose. That's no more accurate than saying that the 44 GMT's lack of a sliderule is a major disadvantage.

bernard1, you need to try them both on and see which one 'speaks to you' the most. There are differences in functions and functionality as implied above and one may be a better fit than the other, but ultimately neither of these watches is 'needed', they are luxury items that should be selected on emotions, and personal preference.

Hi and thanks for the replies. Yes this will be my first luxury watch.. hopefully not the last !! I guess since its the 1st one, i'd rather it be an all rounder watch. Roffensian... thats exactly my problem... both watches speak to me.. but i can't get them both!! so probably in time i'll end up getting both !! The way i'm seeing it at the moment, the chronomat looks great and right nows I'm more inclined to buy it, but the navitimer will always be the classic..

Chronomat 44 GMT

These are two totally different watches. I own both (minus the GMT on the Chronomat) and absolutely love them. I think the Navi is a more elegant piece, but it can still be worn with jeans. The Chronomat is more of a daily beater, so to speak, and probably gets more wrist time in my lineup just because of this fact.

Honestly, no one is going to be able to tell you which one to get. You need to just try both on and see which one feels right to you. Either way, you can't really make a bad decision.
