Great second post nemesis and I agree with nearly everything you say, especially regarding the newer numerals compared to the older ones.

The difference between the newer baton dial compared to the older one is that the batons on the new one are fully lumed so appear white
compared to the metal batons on the older model which, imo, makes the new model dial more legible.

I chose the older model because I much prefer the Pro II bracelet, bezel, crown guards, and the square tipped second hand compared to the diamond shape on the new one. The metal batons look very classy too.

Glad you're still loving yours. (I have to wait until July to get my hands on mine. 72 days and counting)

Nick

Are the new order watches on a long lead time then ?

No mate!

The dealer whose link you posted has one in their safe for me ready to go, but, I have to wait until my birthday to get it. (pressie from my good lady)

I've never wanted to get older faster

Ahh right gotcha .... I may visit that AD myself at some point as Newark is within an hours drive from me.

I've only been there once but I've never seen so many Breitlings in one place.
Hopefully be able to go up again to pick up my Seawolf in person, rather than have them post it.

Nick

Update on this post Guys ..............

I have now seen ALL of the watches in person and can comment as follows:

SEAWOLF AVENGER - regular

Case was too deep for my liking - it was mega thick and knew it was from the description but not till you see and feel it that you fully appreciate its 18mm depth.
It was just too much for me personally and it put me off.
Watch face was excellent though.
So have to rule this one out.

SEAWOLF BLACK STEEL

OMG this was ENOURMOUS !!!!
At 46mm plus the depth size as above its proportions are massive and WAY beyond anything I could wear.
The blacksteel looks very impressive but tbh, I was surprised that I did not like the black steel more as in pictures I was drawn to it - possibly its unique-ness.
So this one was out too.

Super Ocean 44

This is the one I just seam to bond with - again and again.
I know its not to everyone's taste and the style is somewhat unusual for Breitling - but I guess that is what attracts me to this piece.
I try to find fault but am struggling and I love the colour choices, mine being the breitling yellow.
I think with a rubber strap and deployment - and the rubber strap contrasting well with the rubber bezel and deployment clasp with the casing, this is a superb piece.
So I think we have a clear winner here.

There is only one other watch which is interesting me at the moment - that being a Panerai PAM24 Submersible.
Of course this watch is substantially more than the Breitling - almost double - and that is what I am wrestling over.
I have always wanted a Panerai but is The PAM actually worth 2 Lings ?
its a dilemma ......

I'm a bit late to this one (and it looks like your decision on the Breitling front is already made!), but personally I'd go for the Seawolf every single time over all the others you suggested. But that's just me.

In terms of the Panerai, I'm a MASSIVE fan of them in general, but not so much their divers and not the 024 in particular I'm afraid. Whether it's "worth" two Breitling is totally subjective as ultimately both the Breitling and that PAM are steel-cased divers running modified ETAs : so in terms of tech, the are quite similar except for the price. Personally I'd say no the 024 isn't "worth" two Breitlings, but that's entirely driven by the fact that I don't overly like the 024. If I really liked it, then it would be "worth" the additional cash to me.

(Personally if I was going for a Panerai diver I'd go with the 389, but then you're looking at an offensive amount of money as it's got an in-house movement!)

Hi mate,

Thanks for the note and your comments are very much appreciated.
The 389 PAM I agree is superb - and similar to another PAM I like the 305 - but 47mm is pushing what I can wear tbh.
I am not limited to the 24 though as I am also considering the PAM 312 now that I am opening doors up to getting a PAM around this price bracket.
I am hearing some negatives on the accuracy of the in-house movement though on the 312 whereas the ETA movement of the PAM 24 appears to be tried and tested and is COSC.
Although I do appreciate the stories of movements which are not accurate may well be the minority. I hope so anyway.
I have always lusted after a PAM, but the wrangle of if one is worth 2 x breitlings is tugging away at me.
I also have no doubt the Ling will be totally accurate - the problem is, the Super Ocean gives me everything I want in my next watch ....

Sports look
rubber strap - and would go for deployment which I love
totally different to my aerospace
mechanical
Face layout I like
love the brand
amazing value for money

The Panerai on the other hand would be an opportunity to finally own a watch brand I have lusted after for many years.
I seriously love both the PAM 24 and the 312 albeit both are different looks.
The 24 is very similar to the SuperOcean 44 in style / looks.
But the 312 can be made to look quite sporty / casual with a rubber strap - but is versatile to smarten up with a gator / leather strap and love the sandwich dial.

If I were comparing against a £5k ling, the decision may be easier, I don't know, but at the moment I do have a dilemma.

That said, this watch DOES look like its worth the money :)

You mention Panerai, what models are you interested in? I have owned two Seawolfs, and I loved both. A grey dial and a yellow dial. I'd love to add another one day, I'd choose the yellow dial again.

Ah now if you have a 312 in the mix, I'd take that in a heartbeat over any of the others you mentioned. It's simple and handsome. (A bit like me! )

It certainly is. A modern classic right there.

The Seawolf is a badass watch, don't get me wrong, but I believe the 312 edges it out in this battle. Its that good.
